Hopefully that's what all the other clubs think so they don't try take our eyes out when selling players Sorry wrong thread haha
SAFC should buy a Powerball ticket: Current cash value = £178 mil. http://www.powerball.com/pb_home.asp
Micky Gray the Full Back, I liked. But Micky Gray the pundit! lets just say I've never been convinced that he was the shiniest shilling in the purse. Then there is the claim that the 'budget is limited'. SHOCK and HORROR. I don't think so. The opposite of having a limited budget is to have an UNLIMITED one. That would shock me. Even the likes of MU operate within limits. The real question is how limited is the budget. Quite sensibly no one (who might actually know) is saying and that's how it should be.
I gave upon M'Vila, last window, if he does come it will be a massive shock to me, but a huge step in the right direction, but I can't see it happening, just like so many other "targets" he will end up elsewhere, due to our procrastination, maybe, who knows. I thought we would buy Van Dyke to replace JoS, I realise now that I should have known better, and this Bain does not fill me with optimism, just the opposite in fact.
Because there's no way of knowing how much we need until we've inquired about our targets. We should spend however much it takes to get us to early the safety. Can't put a figure on that yet. I don't like to look at pounds spent, I look at the state of the playing squad and what we need. Then I look at the squad after. No need to think in fees, especially as we're spacing out payments as instalments on nearly all our signings, it's far to complex to reel off a number. Just address what needs addressing. If we don't we've ****ed up again if we do, I have a heart attack in my 30s
I have been singing this tune for a few years now mate as you know, to put it simply, Ellis was sold a profit profit idea by a desperate Ex-Chairman who's consortium was a victim of the Financial meltdown, Ellis invested, saw the figures and wanted it all, got his hands on Safc much to the iconic (yeah) Quinns delight who was venturing off to other business ventures (yeah) and has wholeheartedly managed to **** up about everything as a part-time owner and zilch fan and now has no interest at all.. This is what Ellis was doing in the summer of 2015 when Dick was wandering around like my lad, on a pissed up match day.. https://www.ft.com/content/f96ce468-1802-11e5-a130-2e7db721f996 The man will sell us to the highest bidder and probably to one of his cronies, regardless of the consequences.. Entrepreneurs, nah, just greedy ****ers looking to make a few bob off the fans back..
All I know is the 15- 20m a window we tend to get is never enough to break the cycle, if that results in relegation that's every single penny wasted and now working against us. Not investing enough is worse than not spending at all. As if we hadn't have spent at all it's the same result, relegation, only without the massive debt we'll take down with us now. the 80 odd million over the last 2 seasons would have been better spent in one window installing the spine and giving us the breathing space not to spend much for a while. These staggered, not quite enough budgets are really killing us imo. I don't think he's a bad man, just a man who doesn't know the game both as a sport or a business. He's running us into the ground. Bout time he stepped down as chairman. He's been worse than Quinn.
I just see him as a money merchant, no different from kids playing Monopoly, if it doesn't produce then sack it off. Him hiring the dreaded Bain in my opinion was that of a man who expected relegation and wanted the seller in place. Ellis Short in my eyes is a lot worse than Tom Cowie but we have no Bob Murray in place to keep the Creedence of the club together, albeit with zero prospects at the time. Cowie had nowhere to hide, Short has that many hiding places and his blatant ignorance to his paying customers until the **** hits the fan is shocking. He tipped a few waiters, after his gut was filled, big deal. Ellis will always make sure his gut is filled whatever, like a prostitute counting the notes..
Ah Bob Murray. What a guy. I'd have him back as Chairman in a heart beat if Ellis wants to step back from the running of the place while he concentrates on finding a buyer. We could do with Bob on the board at least. Wonder how many directors we have who are Sunderland fans with a wealth of knowledge on the club and the industry?
Might shock you this Bri mate but Bob was always a Leeds fan but as dedicated director was instrumental in getting rid of the mental Cowie.. One of the wealthiest men in the Country Bob was at one time and very dedicated to the Sunderland cause whatever his colours.. Ellis's love is probably the Texan Brownpants or some other obscure Baseball/Basketball or padded dildos pretending to play a game that is 3 hours of adverts and 30mins of play. Afterall, he has certainly **** on us so Brown pants is apt, lets hope Donald's policies make his pants change colour too..
It's something of a myth to call Bob one of the richest men in the Country. By the standards of us mere mortals he is wealthy, but 'Top Table' he ain't. When he sold Spring Ram he made about £13mil. But as Chairman of SAFC he would be guaranteeing the clubs debt, or part of it, of over £30mil. One can speculate that his Missus might not have been comfortable with this. He mad (relatively) little when he sold to Drumaville. The sale though gave him the chance to build up his Leeds based business and he is now estimated to be worth about £70mil. Compare this to Shorts BILLIONS. Put bluntly, Bob was out of his depth, in the financial sense, as the Chairman. The old days when Clubs were run by local worthies are long gone.
Where have you been living all your life? The older, or better informed on here, know that the good white folk being attacked by Red Indians were always saved at the last minute by the sound of a bugle and cavalry charge. I felt I was surrounded by the Doom and Gloom tribe and RAW came in to rescue me at the right time from those pesky injuns. Westerns ain't what they used to be as they now depict indians as real people with feelings.
Lets do this right should we, One of the wealthiest men in the Country Bob was at one time So was Steve Gibson too.. Read the ****ing thread properly next time mate..
I did read it properly, and I checked my facts. For example I find that there are currently 120 UK residents who are thought to be Billionaires. Many of these many times over. There are over one million people classed as millionaires. The way Football clubs are run the owner usually needs to be wealthy over and above the norm even for the rich. Bob was never in that class and he still isn't. He wouldn't be even if he was less of a philanthropist and hung onto his cash. None of this is in any way critical of Bob. But it does explain, in part at least, why he had to/wanted to, sell up. For what it's worth I've heard the claim about Bob's wealth on a number of occasions, but no one can ever back it up with any evidence. No listing or low listing on the annual Forbes Rich List for example. Of course there is that other story out there, the one that has more than a grain of truth to it, that says if you want end up with a small fortune, start off with a large one then buy a Football Club.
