Haha, yeah, I think you've just got to roll with it. Just treat him as a 'superhero' type character and accept it.
It's not that I hate Negan per se. I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan a lot (The actor who plays Negan), its just that I don't like how Rick went from a stone cold killer with a thousand yard stare to bending over backwards and accepting it up the arse, no lube. If Rick was playing ball just for now until he comes up with a way of overcoming Negan then fine. But thats not how he is playing it, he is completely subservient to him to the point where, when he found a gun Michonne had that WASNT on the manifest, he willingly gave it up to Negan, despite having no need to whatsoever! Negan didnt even know that rifle existed. Yeah he has tons of guys and they killed Abraham and Glenn, but Negan is talking about how how owns them, and how he wants to effectively take Maggie and **** her, and the **** he has done to Dwight as well, and he is his bitch. If some guy took my wife, ****ed her, then held an iron to my face......I wouldn't care if I died immediately after, I would wrap that stupid ****ing baseball bat round his head and **** him with it, barbed wire and all. Living under Negan's rule is no life at all. And you know that if you took him out, the whole savior empire would crumble without him. It is stupid writing.
Just a shame that people like Euron Greyjoy haven't been mentioned in the TV show when he sounds like such a badass in the books. He captains a ship called Silence which is manned by mutes because he ripped out all their tongues. "We are the ironborn, and once we were conquerors. Our writ ran everywhere the sound of the waves was heard. My brother would have be content with the cold and dismal north, my niece with even less ... but I shall give you Lannisport. Highgarden. The Arbor. Oldtown. The Riverlands and the Reach, the Kingswood and the Rainwood, Dorne and the marches, the Mountains of the Moon and the Vale of Arryn, Tarth and the Stepstones. I say we take it all! I say, we take Westeros" He just sounds like the ultimate villain.
Now GoT writes awesome bad guys. Tywin Joffrey Ramsay The Mountain Cersei Littlefinger Those are awesome bad guys. There are even better examples of better written bad guys IN Walking Dead. Shane and the Governor to name but two. They were awesome, we understood their motivation, their plots made sense, and we kinda sympathised with them slightly, they had shades of grey. Negan is far too comic booky (literally, since he is from a comic book), he just shows up with a stupid grin making quips, raping women and treating everyone like ****, and everyone falls in line....stupid.
Sorry, to clarify I meant he hasn't really played a big part in the story. All we saw of him was pushing his brother of a bridge, getting put on the salt throne then saying he'd build a 1000 ships, nothing after that.
Im with you bod I said after season 5 if its just - battle bad group - win - settle - new bag group comes - fight - win - settle.... all over again in season 6 im done with it. but here i am season seven still moaning about how it better change the format up a bit
I know. I hate dumping shows....especially when I am this far in. Only if they become unbearably bad do I dump them. And like I said......Maggie and Rosita please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Rick as gone self absurbed and pitiful every time he's lost people he cares about. He'll shake it off before kicking Negen's arse. He's promised to kill him afterall
No chance. When you think the Governor took a couple of seasons to deal with, this will take at least that. What we'll have is the "false dawn" or maybe a couple. What's happening with Carl and Jesus will be the first false dawn (and pretty much a damp squib), what will happen with the likes of Michonne will also be another false dawn. We'll also get double cross in there too. Probably the Hill Top pussies will come on board only to double cross our heroes. And with each one, we'll have another setback and more deaths. BUT, the real victory over Negan will come... just keep an eye on Daryl. Mark my words, that's where it's really at. There's a long and arduous storyline there, where Daryl will go through hell, self doubt, conversion and ultimately, redemption. Defeating Negan will be about Daryl. Everything will build around him imo and that will take a couple of seasons.
burnt face I think Daryl will hold out as much as possible, might try and join up with burnt face, but I also think he might actually become part of the saviours through some warped sense of capitulation and guilt, before he finds himself again. Anyone else, and Negan would've killed them by now, but I think Negan sees 'breaking' Daryl as a personal challenge and one he can achieve. Negan is no mug either so I think he might just manage it initially.
I disagree, Rick has always had an achillies heel in his family and Negan played on those fears by threatening Carl. Rick although he has had his mental killer moments has always looked out for the group and also feels that his main job in life is to look after them, until now that was by destroying all before him, at this moment he cannot see a way of killing Negan while also keeping his group safe. Negan also took away his deputies Glen and Daryl leaving him without support. The communities coming together will give Rick options I expect this along with another death will kick him into action again.
On that particular occasion, when Negan had them all in the woods, no, there wasn't. But since then? It's all about picking your battles.....
I agree and think that he has been shocked into his current state, he almost breaks from it but something is holding him back. Is it the threat to his family/group? Is it that he's thinking it all over? There's anger in there still which can be seen in some scenes so I don't think he's quite the broken man. I think he's realised that this one needs some thought. The story is quite transparent imo, the Hilltop, Alexandria and Kingdom communities will come together and then they have the numbers to fight a larger force. I don't expect this to happen quickly though. I still love the show despite it's shortcomings.
