i've no idea mate. these are figures recently quoted in the guardian. I wouldn't put it past him bulking them up, but would hope they sre transparently reported on a same basis as other clubs https://www.google.fi/amp/s/amp.the...ub-by-club-breakdown-david-conn?client=safari That's certainly my feeling. He's overspent on ****e and dreadful deals. ****ing awful transfer record for years. He's bought some awful bloody real estate too
That's fair dos, but he's not the only one saying we won't be spending. He's just saying what others have been reporting for a few weeks.
Only been a PC man for about ten year and my older mate warned me off it. His granddaughters signed him up to it and he had about two hundred "friends" in a week. Couldn't start the drivel they posted in the end.
Understand that Bri, but it is another old chestnut that ranks alongside the reported rotten core at the club etc. None of us has any idea about what is planned and releasing our intentions this early would be suicidal.
Here's Richard Mennear from the 3rd of Nov publicly stating the budget is limited. Can't shot a man(Mick Gray) for echoing reports that are already out there, even if they are a bit of a dickhead. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...ke-time-patience-and-cold-hard-cash-1-8217902
No but logic and looking at the way the club is being ran gives us a pretty good idea, it's doesn't Rick Hawkins to see where it's going. There'll be funds for a few of players, but not enough to address the problems. Bit like every transfer we've had for what feels like forever. If we're relying on a transfer window like had with Sam then we're ****ed because getting that sort of impact from overseas budget signings is a very rare thing. More often than not players of that category need time to settle. That window saved our arse but it was a once in while window to workout that well. Even then, coming up a year later we've got Hoff always crocked, Khazri not able to get a game and Kone looking a shell of the player he was. We need a strong window with a hefty budget, we're paper thin and low on quality. The daft 15-20m he will throw at it will be peanuts to what's needed to strengthen adequately. Because I doubt every signing will hit the ground running like last time, that was a fluke.
A good well balanced article that basically pointed the past problems and the way forward. The cold hard cash bit just said to me that it would be needed, which we already know, but no way was there anything s that could be interpreted as it would not be made available.
There won't be an instant fix because there never is one unless we buy Barcelona's team. I will re-iterate that Short has the manager he has wanted for years so his record of providing funds may be tested but if they are justified then there is no reason why he should not back him.
He clearly states the budget will be limited. I bet 20m will be top end of our spends. Nowhere near enough. It's nowt. I think people are taking the term 'Nowt to spend' far to literally. Obviously it doesn't mean nothing at all. It's just a northern football cliche used for little to spend used in this context often.
For me, the only fix is adequate investment, to install a spine, that won't fall out of the tree for free and without it we're always going to struggle. Then you watch spending. Not watch the spending without the spine and continue to struggle until it too late. The way we spend wastes the money. That's clear in the return we get on out going players. So why keep doing it? When it's been proven season on season to just flushing cash down the bog. There seems to be no end to our failing transfer system. Even short has publicly stated the money hasn't been spent well, then he goes and repeats the way he spends his money.
Our manager has publicly stated that we cannot compete with clubs like Palace, Watford & Bournemouth in the transfer market. Tells me all I need to know.
The club has spent unwisely for years which is why we are in such a financial mess...I don't blame the chairman for this as he has put a good wad of his own cash into our club over the years. If he is to blame it is for giving a free roll to those that have bought and sold the players..
We'll scrimp and scrape our way through the January transfer window, make no mistake about that. We got lucky in last Jan with 3 completely unknown quantities (in the PL) in Kirchhoff (a crock), Kone (completely unknown quantity) and Khazri (enigma?). We might have had them scouted for a while but realistically we had no idea whether they'd be any good in the PL - turns out that they all hit the ground running and all played huge parts in keeping us up. My worry is that games like the win vs. Hull are simply papering over the cracks - Hull were awful, and in my opinion we weren't much better in terms of quality, the result probably flattered us somewhat, IMO. We might not get so lucky this time (or then again we might).
Well, whilst I've openly stated my thoughts about Ellis lack of ambition for the club, every single window the press say there's 'nowt to spend'. Then we do, usually too late but there's always something. Micky Gray knows **** all from inside the club, that's fact. We will spend, not £50 million or owt but I absolutely believe there's a few quid or Moyes wouldn't have taken the job. There can be no excuses or **** upS this window, or we're gone.
They'll be money, but will there be enough to break the circle? Or will it be just enough to stay up or worse, followed by a week summer window followed by just enough, rinse and repeat till the bottle is empty.
