With Papy suspended on Sat who is everybodys pick to replace him? I think Oshea could be in for a very long day against the pace of Liverpools front 3, so for that reason im gona go with Denayer. Itd be great to see Kirchoff back operating just infront of our defence aswell for added support.
O'Shea by a country mile. Never seen Denayer play well in defence but oshea organises them better than anyone and organisation is more important than pace when you don't have the option of both
O'Shea for his organizational qualities. Denayer doesn't have the composure to marshall the back 4. He's too frantic. Use his energy in midfield, alongside The Hoff and Dong. Kone will have to track Mane. The others will have to nobble the Brazilians
I personally think Denayers pace against the likes of Mane and Firminho will be a bigger asset than experience.
This!!! O'Shea organises the team and Denayer is better sat in front of the back 4 like he did against Hull. The Hoff hasn't played and his fitness is always an issue anyway so i would be tempted to leave him open the bench for this one and play Denayer instead., maybe the Hoff can come on as a sub if required. He's old and slow, but or defence has always performed better when O'Shea has been in it.
Oshes will get the nod for his experience but I also think Denayer will be in with Kirchoff to stop their midfield
JoS for me with Denayer in midfield. problematic is who will partner Denayer in the holding role, we are so short of options here its scarry,
Denayer could do the holding role. Pienaar can play for his experience or Gooch can step in or Kirchy n Seb could have a half each
I think there's a box to box midfielder in Denayer, just needs to condition for it. He made up a lot of ground against Hull, did his defensive duties well and seemed to enjoy getting forward to support the strikers. He's neat and comfortable on the ball, not afraid to beat the first man to open up space and can pass. He's got all the raw ingredients but 1. If he can develop the engine I think he could play that role well and can't start working on his attacking side. Not worth doing while he's a loan player though so stick to how we're using him because I think he did well.
There is also N'Dong as an alternative playing deeper with someone else ? further up field, just hope its not McNair again but I expect it will be.
I mentioned liking what I saw of Denayer after the Bournemouth game, and tongue in cheek compared him to Edgar Davits, this may be stretching it a bit, but he has more potential there than at CD.
Not harsh at all imo, I see Lars and Hoff both played for the U21's yesterday so we might see some involvement from either or both, it will be interesting to see how Moyes tackles Liverpool, its a big ask whoever he picks, maybe that in itself can work to our advantage, hope springs etermal as they say, I would be over the moon with a point, I will not worry if we loose by an odd goal or two, I think we will score so who knows.
Surely not, Liverpool are a bit shaky at the back, and we will need to score, even if its just for pride, sit deep against them yes, but we must have an outlet, and who have we got better than Big Vik and Defoe.
Totally agree but Moysy is usually a defensive minded chap. I would prefer we at least went to give a game.
