Morning all, bright but very breezy here this morning. Off to join friends for monthly dinner today, so the watch has an outing. Just noticed that it has not been altered since the clocks changed, showing how often I need to know the time. Have fun whatever you plan.
Morning, Dave; morning, all. Whenever a traditionally smaller club loses in one of their first matches in the Premiership, even if they've soundly beaten the champions in an earlier game, some 'great' and 'profound' pundit, like 'Lawro' , will come out with: "Welcome to the Premiership!" I've always thought that is weak punditry. In the Championship games don't go to form as often (I don't have the evidence for this but I think I'm right), and a result like yesterday can happen. OK, it all shakes out at the end of the season, but the day-to-day management of players, keeping their heads up after this sort of thing, makes it a fascinating league. We're cheering for you, Dave, and the Canaries will be singing at the end of the season.
Morning all. Our luxury, 15 tog, goose down duvet earned its money overnight - it's -5C outside & I'm loathe to unsnuggle myself. Mugs of hot coffee and bowls of soup all day methinks...
Morning, Dave; morning, all. Anxiety dreams. Don't you just love them? And that was before I saw the WPL table.
Morning all, still quite breezy, but very mild. Back to the building site this morning for some more hands on stuff. Much easier to sit in a site office, plan, then set the work force at it.
That's #4 son dropped off at the school bus, so I'm indoors for the day - at -4C it's not as cold as yesterday, but not conducive to straying far from the coffee pot. Now that India have won the cricket, I have to toss up between planning for next week or a good book...
I don't know how I missed this before - or is this link just nonsense? The Sandy Hook school shootings never happened... http://tapnewswire.com/2016/11/1-trillion-dollar-lawsuit-filed-against-msm-for-staging-sandy-hook/
Got absolutely soaked on the walk to work this morning as we had a downpour and now I've got a cold, although the cold jerzeypie had at the weekend might have more to do with me having one than the weather. Only tomorrow to go then I'm off work until next Monday.
Recovering from long day in London yesterday...train up, lunch with daughter, Abstract Expressionism at the RA, drinks in Jeffrey Barnard's old haunt The Coach and Horses in Greek Street, more food - salt beef and pickles in Gaby's, late train home. Not expecting to do anything too energetic today.
Got home from work to find that my only piece of post is from Income Tax. Apparently, my tax for next year is going to be over 3 times the amount I've been paying this year despite being in the same job with not much change in salary. I'm off work tomorrow and have to collect a prescription from the hospital. The tax office isn't that far from the hospital, so I'll go in and find out why. It shouldn't take too long - they'll want someone with a cold out of there asap.
Good luck with that barry. I recently received an underpayment notice from them for last tax year - only £220, but it was to do with travelling expenses paid & not taxed. I tried pointing out to them that a) I no longer was in a position that required travel & had not been paid any such expenses for two years, and b) when I was last paid travelling expenses they were tax-free as the amount paid was under the taxable threshold. Of course, they wouldn't listen - and I now have to either stump up & lump it, or appeal, providing evidence that I haven't received what I didn't get...
Have no idea - they've had my earnings statements which confirm what I told them. I'll have to send them copies along with a P11D return (travelling expenses statement) for each year. Even though both of those will be nil returns, I'll have to fork out £25 for each to my employer.
