Yeah agree Lichaj was very impressive at rb and did a job at lb too. However wouldn't be a fan of playing a full back on his wrong foot as it can create issues both defensively and whilst supporting attacks. I know Hughes was never a full back, but when played at lb you often saw him passing inside rather than playing down the line and on the rare occasion he overlapped he cut back because wasn't confident to put a cross in.
odea is a CB, grayson clearly signed him to play LB which is piss poor management. square pegs dont work in round holes. after 1 game weve seen he cant do it and now we are stuck with him, i doubt the palyer would have come here if he'd known he was guna play LB! Next game drop obrien and odea or play odea at CB with parker at LB or sign someone.....nah that wont happen
Just seen Parker's 3 appearances last year were Cardiff away and Arsenal twice so I hope no-one is judging him on these games. Injuries will have affected his progression though so he may indeed not be up to championship standard.
So the 3 LBs we've expressed an interest in mean nothing? O'Dea was merely the best candidate to play LB against Southampton, not the long term solution.
Grayson should have not bothered bringing in O'Dear as it was a waste of money. He should have used what he has because White or Parker would be better, and if OD was brought in as a CB, why not give Lees a chance after playing well in pre season and rave reports last season. makes no sense, but Grayson hardly ever does. Instead of bringing in old hasbeenjourneymen, give our own kids achance if you've got no money. The fans will get behind the kids
White is not now seen as a LB. He was sent out on loan to see what he can do as a LM. Apparently, in that, he did a good job. Me, I'd like to see Parker at LB. If he's fit, he needs to get games so that he can either develop as our long term LB, or be let go. O'Dea actually didn't do too badly at LB. He certainly made some timely interventions. So who knows what will happen next
Don't say anything positive, that's blasphemy and you'll get called a tit or asked if you're on drugs.
i am aware of what Simon21 has just said but were you watching the same game as me????? He is the worse player i have ever seen by miles. Constantly out of position, he was at fault for the second goal, if he had been in position at least then kissa woulda also been in position. If you were looking at where he was all game you'll see kisnorbo is literally covering for him for the full 90mins. He was further forward than gradel on many occasions when we were defending, these weren'y southampton counter attacks, he wasn't tracking back or anything, he was just that far out of position. He didnt make timely interventions, when he got the ball he often lost it. I dont want to go on a rant here but i cannot believe some of the things i am reading on here, he was shocking and truly i am not exaggerating. Words fail me when im describing O'Dea, honestly i cannot say how badly i think O'Dea played
What kind of a message does it send to other players in the squad that O'Dea was brought in and put straight into the team? Does anyone actually think he's better than Ben Parker, Aidy White or even Bessone? He's not. He's not a long term solution, so one of our 3 existing leftbacks should have played, until a deal for the right player could have been done.
I would love to see Arca coming in but if he priced himself out of a deal at Middlesborough eh ain't too likely to be joining us tbh
