But goalkeeping mistakes are final and turn games. The second goal was that type of mistake. Marshall has not been the super dependable proven PL keeper he was lauded to be. Yes, he's okay, but Jak was in form and motivating his defence and beyond. Dropping him was crass. Keepers are about form, not historical stats.

You posted it, but now watch again and compare the movement of Pickford against Marshall.

I believe the first goal was an easier save than the second, which was very stoppable. Marshall's fet are permanently planted, he doesn't mive with the play and leaves toi much goal to target- Defoe relishes goalkeeprs like him. His reactions to anything away from his body are not too drawer and he got his place because he is supposed to be top drawer. Just do the comparison between the agility and ball following.

I may be reading more into your points than your comment about his 25 conceded goals in his 8 games.
No relevance to his inability to organize his defenders then ? No connection to the inadequacies of his defenders ? Was he to blame for any of the goals this weekend. I'm confused by your post in answer to whoever asked the question about blaming the keeper. That's all.

I said live that Marshall's reactions for the first goal were too slow and was rubbished, but it's so true. Defoe telegraphed where he was slotting that and Marshall takes an eternity to get down.

    I guess not.
Simple question. How many goals of the 25 conceded by Marshall were his fault ? How many yesterday - in your opinion ?

All of them, because he didn't stop them going into the goal.

If you want the detailed answer, see the points that you don't seem to understand.

I understand what you said in your points, however I do not agree with your conclusions.
In the first 2 goals , there were 3 City defenders between him and the goalscorers that made it difficult for him to anticipate where the shot may end up. Defoe's goal, he went right, then beat 2 going left before he shot. Not easy for any unsighted keeper.
The third was an almost impossible shot (for anyone) to stop as it was a bullet.
    All defenders errors.
What about the other 22 goals he conceded. Must have missed them.
What is it that you don't understand you arrogant prat ?

It looks like it's not possible for you to have a conversation without you becoming emotional and personal. In future reconsider the way you want to carry out a conversation and perhaps I'd engage you properly.

Pickford is more agile than Marshall agreed. In the first 2 goals he was hampered by floundering defenders in front of him. #rd was unstoppable for most keepers.

I'm sorry, but what is emotional and personal about what I have said that differs from your comments (e.g. "see the points that you don't seem to understand"). Is that not a personal comment on my inability to understand ? It seems to me that a) you cannot interpret what my c0mments, questions, statements mean or b) you are completely opposed to alternate opinions to your own and have difficulty in defending them without patronizing the opposition.
Do you treat the guests on your podcasts the same way ?

PS. I have neglected to mention the insulting, immature pm you sent me sometime in August - but if you seem to think it's fine to accuse me of being personal & emotional, read it again as I believe it reflects exactly what your are publicly attempting to attribute to me.

I couldn't be sure about the 3rd, but it was a cracking strike and will not argue it. The first he had good vision. The defence blocked Defoe, he moved across them, cleared into space and pulled the trigger - low and hard.. Marshall had time to react, he never moved with the threat, he never followed the ball and he never prepared for the inevitable shot. How many videos would he have watched of Defoe doing just that? There should at least of been more reaction, more reading of the situation.
The second was also poor reaction and weak goalkeeping. This guy is supposed to be a top larker and maybe he is, but I'm not seeing that this season and it's this season that matters.
Outfield also left room for criticism, you are right, but that doesn't absolve the GK his errors.

Defending Marshall, saying these goals going in aren't his fault is one thing, blaming defenders is another. But when you concede 20+ goals in less than 10 games, something is seriously wrong, somewhere.
So you change everything round except the goalie, so the final thing that must be changed is him. Maybe a confidence thing, maybe he's just ****ing useless.
What's the worst that can happen, Jak comes in v West Brom, he concedes 3/4, we lose another game on the way down, proving we are **** & that's that!

Prior to being ousted, Jak's shot stopping ration was something like 70+% and the highest or second highest in the division. I suspect Marshalls is the other end of the scale toward the bottom of a league table. If a defence is breached the last line of defence is your keeper and if he cant do the job 25 conceded remains 25 instead of say 12!!!!.. Marshall is great at diving over the top of penalties aswell..

To be fair to all of them if we can't score at t'other end it doesn't really matter how good/crap they are.

It does because you have a better chance of keeping a clean sheet.

At the moment we can't score or keep a clean sheet.

Jak needs to go in goal and pretty damned quickly. Based on recent performances he is the best option we have in goal.

Our new signings have been a major disappointment to me.

I forgot to put my tongue-in-cheek symbol after my remark.
Although even if we keep clean sheets 'we cannot live on no-score draws alone' (Matthew 4:4, almost...)

All of the above. I would add that Jak is the one that oozes passion and enthusiasm, which is infectious with the players around him and the crowd, making up the 12th man. He must presently be the most confident of the two, Marshall must be feeling a bit "punch drunk" and it may be kinder and wiser to give him a break and take him out of the firing line. I thought the idea of spending big money on players was to improve the team, I haven't seen any improvement since his arrival.

That said, to be fair to him, he's not the reason we lost Saturday, whichever keeper had been in net, it was still nil scored at other end, the same old problem that we have had for a few years, no proven PL strikers. Marshall may have been culpable for a couple of goals, others up front were culpable for not putting away any of the decent chances we had in the first half, their proven strikers were clinical, first chance score. But an inform keeper will keep you in the game and give you a chance, and Jak must presently be the more inform, mentally stronger keeper?
