Boro still in it at the moment. Ramirez should be shot for not hitting the target there.

There is a good fighting spirit at Boro' but Negredo needs some help up front, a fox in the box.

They'll be ok this season though

Congrats to the chavs. A better all round team than us atm, because of their defence.

Never mind them. We have to beat them to it.

Coming 2nd or 3rd is not going to help us in the quest for the title. We have performed poorly in the premiership whenever we are in Europe.

Liverpool failed to take their chances against stubborn Southampton,Chelsea took their chance against stubborn Middlesbrough. We are playing Sunderland this weekend and Chelsea have got the draw specialist Tottenham. It's not over till it's over.

    Aye nothings over in November.
You are 1 point behind! <doh>

Sunderland are on a bit of a revitalisation though, back to back wins.
Still gotta think you will beat them comfortably at Anfield though.

Only just realise Spurs have drawn as many as they have won, with their defensive record I can see them parking a big, big bus at the Bridge. Will be a close game.
    I predicted 1-0 either way or a 0-0 draw.

I think we will win comfortably but there will be cards in this game. Spurs to do their usual thuggery because things are going wrong

Draw would be lovely thanks. Both dropping points is always useful.

Yeah we have City at the Etihad after, so we don't want Diego picking up a yellow here.

I honestly don't think we have too much to worry about from Spurs this season (in the game, yes, but overall....no).
They look lightweight upfront, with only Kane scoring penalties at the moment to drag them through games.
As the season kicks on and they have Europe to contend with too, I can see them dropping down to be honest. Too many draws. They lack a Hazard or Pedro type player who can unlock a defence with a choice bit of skill.

True, they're quite reliant on Kane and saw how much struggled without him last month. Have a nack of not losing when playing poorly though. They've etched out draws when maybe should have lost and those 4-5 points have just kept them in touching distance (as well as taking points of us etc)

Not losing is one thing.....winning is something else.
You get 1 point for a draw and 3 for winning.
You get more points from 2 wins and 3 losses than you do from 5 draws.

Football isn't about not losing, it's about winning.

That is why cup football is different to the league and why some teams thrive in cup football but lag far behind in the league and vice versa.

In cup football, the objective is not to lose and stay in the comp. A draw away is good and even one in the replay could let you through on penalties.

In the league, draws are semi-defeats. as you said, A few wins give you more points than a run of draws.

In that sense, our draw this weekend is bad. We should get 3 points when we are so much on top. Spurs got 3 points when they didn't deserve any. That's a 5 points swing!

Dont disagree, but if you can draw games that you should be losing, those 7-8 points over the season can make a big difference.

Spurs have drawn 6 and are 4 points off top. If they'd had lost 3 of those (we should have beaten then and hammers should have, not sure if any others) then that's another 3 points dropped and be 7 off the lead.

There is a BIG difference in drawing when we should be winning (2 points dropped) and drawing when we are under the cosh (one point gained) <whistle>

    Not really.
In terms of the performance in the match itself, you can look at it as 2 points dropped or 1 point gained.
But in terms of the league table, a draw is just 1 point, regardless of how much possession you had in the match, or how many shots on target you had.
A draw is ALWAYS 2 points dropped.

Not if you deserved to lose the game, then it's 1 gained in a game should have had 0.

Its sinple. Win games you should win. Draw games you should lose. And the game you should draw win/draw half each.

At the risk of seeming pedantic, in only in the context of a title race that a draw is 2 points dropped. Surely the specifc context is relevant?

For us, a point at the Etihad is surely different to a point at Anfield against Sunderland (all due respect to them and Moyes)?
