You don't think the organisation of the defence in a way that will assist the keeper is in part down to the keeper? When Jak/McGregor used to yell instructions at the defenders they were just making sure they knew what they wanted for tea?

Try again...how many of yesterday's goals were his fault ? Of the 25 you say he's conceded, how many were his fault ? He's the last line of defense. My take is he's been directly responsible for one, maybe at a stretch, 2 of the goals he's conceded this season. None yesterday.

That went beyond organisation, it was basic stuff that the defenders should be doing without being told, there were players totally out of position for the second goal. It's daft to blame the goalkeeper for yesterday, he should've done better with Anichebe's first, but the defence was awful yesterday and that's where I'd look to place blame.

We had this with McGregor at one point too. The hipsters had decided that he was crap and we should play Jakupovic instead. Every little thing he did he got stick for. When he and Harper were injured Jak got a game against Southampton and assisted their winning goal with an hilarious attempt at a left footed clearance and suddenly the hipsters were all sympathetic because it was an awkward ball etc etc. There's a good reason these keepers are always ahead of Jak in the pecking order. Shouting isn't enough.

Every goalkeeper is clearly culpable for every goal he concedes. Ever.

If they're out of position it's the keeper's responsibility to yell at them and get them back in line, seeing he's the one with the perspective of the whole field.

Every goalkeeper is clearly culpable for every occurrence of poor defending that happens in front of him. Ever.

35 yards + from the goal line maybe. Anything less than that, his focus is on the ball and the player who has it. It's impossible, in open play, for a goalie to be able to yell at/organize his defenders to any effect. It's the last line defenders who have that responsibility (sweeper in old money, centre backs etc). That goal is ****ing large...it's a tough job to even see the ball coming at you through your own defenders & the opposition players.

Have you ever played the game? Keepers are constantly expected to yell at their defence to let them know if they're out of position.

For 60 + years. Player, coach, manager. Keepers are supposed to enlighten their team mates of course. they are also supposed to keep an eye on the ball and the player who has it. How much peripheral vision & ability to instruct (say) 5 defenders within 12-18 yards of the goal line does a keeper have when the play is moving at pace ? Next to none. Look at the highlights again and tell me how Marshall should have instructed his team mates on all 3 goals he conceded, both 35 yards and less than 18 yards from his goal line yesterday.

Edit: By the way, stop being a patronizing ****. remember, I'm illiterate.

I'm not suggesting they bloody coach the players as the attacker is coming in, I'm saying when the ball is up the field, they need to be barking instructions to players to tell them where to mark.

I didn't intend it to be patronising, it was a genuine question. I forgot you're always on your cranky pills though.

****ing hell, get over yourself. It's opinion, opinion that is so far being upheld by performance. You might think me hysterical, but you certainly come across as a **** with statements like that.

Perhaps the manager does see it but is scared to drop him because of his price tag. For him to even admit that he was close to dropping Marshall speaks volumes.

Or just waiting to post considered and blissfully stupid mutterings like yours. Do you discus anything anymore or just accuse folk you don't agree with of saying things they never said?

Your last line on the attached post has nothing to do with the points you made above it then ?
Cranky pills ? Your defense against a different opinion ? It was not a genuine question - it was a sarcastic jibe you made.

Are people really blaming Marshall for yesterday?!
    Let's see:

    - Clear pen on Watmore that should have been given
    - Flapped at a number of crosses that led to dangerous chances for Sunderland
    - Was poor in getting down to stop Defoe's shot
    - Was at direct fault for the second goal

Can't organise a defence to save his life. Has no passion or energy about him .Has conceded something like 25 goals in his first 8 games for the club.

They were all separate points so I'm not quite sure what you mean.
