Cardio is for pussies ;). Nah seriously it is good to get fit and into shape. I have started to do weight training and bulking up as I am an incredibly skinny/weak lad who needs to man up! Eat right, push yourself and results will follow. Good luck Tash!

There may be a few places available with certain charities where you pay a fee of £30-40 and then commit to raising £200-300 for them if you were interested.

I exercise every day of the year, in the past 3 years I only missed 5 days last christmas when i had swine flu. Burn 2500kj on the mill. Followed by fresh juice and a long shower. Every single day, no matter where I am or what I'm doing otherwise. Damn it's so good being compulsive. If I don't do it, I can't fall sleep at night and wake up go downstairs, and do it. Same goes for daily crunches and pushups.

There's nothing more satisfying and maintaining a self made addiction.

I would say about after 3-4 weeks of continual exercise you start getting the endorphine buzzes when you're finished with your exercise. On the other hand you might also feel frustrated, even aggressive if you suddenly stop or are unable to continue your routine.

That sounds very much like an addiction to me. Is that really healthy?

Be patient and don't over do, as you'll end up injuring yourself. Trust me I've done injuries with that type of mentality.

Try Insanity or P90X Training Programs, there great to build muscle and loose body mass! Cycling, Swimming and Running are also great! As for Weights, Concentrate on a Body Part a Day, Biceps, Triceps, Chest, Abs, Back and Legs, Shoulders. Eat Healthy, NO Smoking, Drugs or Beer! Try Whey Protein to! At first do Reps Very Fast so you build muscle and then gradually slow down to give defenition, also use lower weights when begining! :emoticon-0100-smile

  12. Just did some re-measurments, i was way undermeasuring my lengths. I'm actually doing 16-18 x 300m which is around 4800-5400m, around 3 miles.

So 3+ miles in 30-35 mins aint bad imo.

if you can withstand having some douchey american shout encouragement at you for an hour at a time (p.s. you can torrent them)
    no dice
reps as fast as you can build explosive strength, slow gives more TUT so you tend to find bodybuilders doing it. it's the rep range which is more important to tailor for your goals: 5 or under to lean more toward strength, 8-12 for size and 20+ for muscular endurance. However it must be said that a bodybuilder's workout wont shouldnt be undertaken by a complete beginner as you need a good amount of base strength to maximise the benefit from it, so people should go for a beginners strength workout if they're in that boat (like SS).

I do sports science at uni and the basic things to remember for exercising are:

    Specificty
    Progression
    Overload
    Reversibility
    Tedium

If you keep to them you will not go too wrong.

I do Sport at BTEC, Specificity: How Specific your Training is, What Muscles Weight etc.
Progression: Measuring what progression your making, Keeping Record!
Overload: Over Working your Muscles to build more.
Reversibility: Doing to Much could make you worse or cause injury.
Tedium: Not as likely to do well if your Bored.
    Brief but Summary! :)

I am mate, and I'm doing it for Macmillan too. I've a belly and love my beer so started training in January and managed to edge 21.3km last week which is the distance of the half marathon. It's hard as hell though to be fair but I'm doing it in memory of my mam so I deal with it.
My insteps are knacking after the big training runs but a bit of ice is helping.
I may bump into you in the MM tent after the race. good luck bud.

HIIT ( High intensity interval training ) is extremely good. You do around 15 - 20 mins of that and it's equivalent of a 1 hour exercise session.

Warm up - Steady jog or cycle for 10 minutes
    Then sprint for 30 seconds
Steady pace again for 1 minute Repeat 6 -8 times.

It increases your heart rate, which then boosts your metabolism, this then gives your body the ability to burn calories long after your workout. You don't want to build muscle but i would suggest you do press ups, sit ups and weights. It's good to work on all muscles as the more they're used the more calories you lose...
