Billy Sharp is clearly a no, not sure if that was serious or not. As for Sam, I think we would benefit from recalling him. However it is probably best for his development if we let him have a full season with Blackburn - it's a tough call.
The fact is that the top six teams are hoovering up all the best players. We are not at that level, nor are our players. We are operating at our limit on 3 fronts, so I for one am satisfied. As long as we don't get thumped or defeated regularly, then we are going in the right direction. We shuffle on.
I both hoped and thought so! Would you call Sam back? Really can't decide if it would be the right decision.
Just go to back. Very glad with the point, would have hated to see those Liverpool fans go mental in the dying minutes. Point gained for us a and two dropped for them. Oh and it would help if officials could do their job properly.
Not sure what this means. There are always players out there who can help your team. It's not that easy to find them, but that is why we invest in the black box and Les Reed. We should always be looking for flaws in our team and trying to improve on them. Our midfield is by no means bad, it just isn't quite clicking. We don't really need a world class player to make a difference, just a slight improvement could go a long way. We should never just settle for what we have. If we did, we would still be in League One.
Just one word for today....PROUD I don't think today is the right one for too many inquests, Liverpool destroyed a decent team last time, scoring six times with free flowing, dazzling, attacking football. Our lads worked like i've never seen them before, there simply wasn't enough chances to create anything up top. Make no mistake Liverpool are up there with Chelsea and Citeh this season and we restricted them to a couple of good chances in 90 minutes. It was nice to see that we can dig in and get a result despite giving up a lot of possession, today is definately a good point gained.
He got better after a while, but when he first came on he drifted around the left midfield, didn't press and looked lost. He had one decent run. I like him, but he's just not the player he was. Hojberg looked super - closed Coutinho down as much as he could and was very pleased to see Harry Reed get some good game time. All in all, I'm pleased with the draw against the team I think will take the title!
I thought Clattenberg was okay today. Not great, but okay. I think perhaps because of the conditions, he let some things go on both sides. I thought maybe he was a bit one-sided in calling advantage. Both sides can point to some calls that were maybe a little inconsistent. But overall, he didn't impact the game. I have no complaints.
Just got back, thought the lads did good today against a very impressive looking Liverpool....wish the black could find us one decent striker though. Virgil MoM again for me,
We can't do anything until January. We will bring in under the radar player(s). We are moving on but not at the pace of other richer teams. It is because we are not in League 1 that I am satisfied. This is the best ever time to be a Saints fan. Nearly 50 years of frustration to prove it.
We dug in and got the point. Very happy with the point and would have been hilarious if we had won. Also - long needs to play now. So much impact.
Ouch! Hope there's no lasting damage, LTL. I was listening to the match on the radio and there was certainly enough noise there
