I posted on the PL thread about this row sometime before the game and the thrust of my post was disquiet how the rememberance commemoration was now tinged (possibly soaked) in jingoism which appears to have been done deliberately to counter criticism of the military actions we have been part of this century.
the commemoration definitely used to be more low key and tbh felt more heartfelt as at times now it just feels a bit forced.

You must have been to different Remembrance Sundays to me if you thought the event was triumphalist. We got our arses kicked, for instance, in the Far East by the Japs. We still honour those that suffered and fought them though.

 

No its not I agree but the push to stick poppy's everywhere as a demand or you will be looked on as unpatriotic is the question.

I dont think people are offended about poppies, to me this is about the existence of the guidance.it is very rare that i side with FIFA but they had made their feelings known.
If they allow the poppies they have to start allowing all requests or else they run the risk of hypocracy.
As mentioned by Lucas above the Welsh paid their respects but did not place FIFA in an awkward predicament.
(It isnt like they cant do that themselves).

The funny thing its not even FIFA's rules. The rules are laid down by the IFAB, who have 5 members on board, 4 of which are the home nation FAs. So basically the FA are complaining and fighting against their own rules.

 

Nah we will qualify despite a 3 point deduction from FIFA, then we will win the WC.
That said I still rate Mourihnio and think they going to win league, defo top four

 

Should be an interesting day of footie today, some decent games. Wife has gone to Liverpool to a musical with a gang of mates from work, have got the ale in so 12.30 through to 10pm will be continuous footie on the box. I am including european league games in that

Interesting line up for utd, not too sure how it will work out but should be better going forward. lets hope for high scoring draw with lots of cards and niggles.

They done the same **** for our game against United, and that turned out to be a load of ****e.

They need to stop bigging these games up

 

Arsenal should breeze past them, but hopefully Mourinho's only tactic works and he can hold them for a draw.

 

Looks like an actual team today from United, balanced midfield with pace upfront. Jones and Rojo at the back though..

 

Walcott being in the form he's in and Darmian playing at LB, I fancy him here to have a big impact on the game and find a lot of space in behind Darmian, who isn't the best defender.

 

Ushiteds centre halves look poor. The Arse should have fun against them. An early Arsenal goal is needed to stop Hose-a parking his 10 man defensive bus.

 

Well let's hope it has same impact and we have a shytefest of a game that ends in a draw.
