I know it's only mid-November and the possibility of having new owners in January is unlikely - but who do we need to bring in to stand a chance of survival and who do we need to get rid of? Personally I would sell Hernandez and use the money to buy Tammy Abraham from Chelsea (if there wasn't an issue with his loan at Bristol C) I know Hernandez can be good when he chooses to be, but in reality has only had one good (Championship) season for us and a lot of sulking and injuries in between. He cost £10m and if Bruce remains eager we should move him to Villa for £12m (while his stock is still high) and use the money on a striker who could hopefully double Hernanez' goal tally with his first touch.
We need more players, not different players. Abraham has his eyes on the Champions League, not East Yorkshire.
Not necessarily. He still needs at least a season in the top flight and from what I hear he isn't likely to make at Chelsea any time soon. They would probably be willing to listen to offers.
He scored 74 goals in 98 matches for Chelsea youth teams. He scored 9 goals in 21 matches for England youth teams. He's now scored 9 in 16 in the Championship in his first season of first team football and he was only 19 a month ago. Why on earth would they be looking to get rid of him?
I agree, but there again they did get rid of Lukaku, which was for a heap of money which we will not do. So no chance.
Chelsea would keep him, but chances are he would only be loaned out again with no guarantee of breaking into their squad. Apart from Arsenal young kids rarely make it at top four clubs. They need to go elsewhere and if our money helps Chelsea swing a deal for a bigger player they will consider selling Abraham.
As John says, Lukaku couldn't break into their team, but they still got £28m for him after he proved himself in the Premier League. He'll stay at Brizzle this season and he'll be out on loan in the Premier League next season, they'll not let him go for a price we'd stump up.
Abraham isn't a Belgian international (which Lukaku was when they sold him). I'm sure Abraham wouldn't come cheap, but I don't think we're talking £28m just yet.
He was Belgian international when Chelsea signed him, that's why he cost them £10m (£17m after add-on's). This is a really pointless discussion, we're not going to offer anything like the sort of money that would tempt Chelsea to sell him.
Maybe getting Abraham is wishful thinking due to our league position and the chaos surrounding the club, but it wouldn't surprise me if he went to a smaller PL club for a reasonable fee with dozens of clauses and add-ons this window.
Chelsea who don't need the money wouldn't even entertain getting rid of a kid who could be as good as any striker in the Premiership if he keeps progressing as he has. At 20 he would be a good bet for a lower team Prem loan next season to continue that progression.
Forget it, Abraham will be out of our reach. Trippier at Tottenham on loan, Moses Simon from Gent, Jenkinson from Arsenal on loan and Wells from Huddersfield. That'd do me.
We definitely need a full back or two, Trippier and/or Jenkinson as suggested above would be excellent business. I think we could do with a winger and a striker too, off the top of my head I think Berbatov is available, though wages may be an issue, certainly under the current regime. As for wingers, I think Scott Malone at Fulham can play both out wide and at full back, I've always liked the look of him when I've seen him.
He has, but he's certainly putting in the hard yards up front. Scott Hogan at Brentford might also be worth a look, he got 7 in 7 last season and has 8 in 12 this season. Done his hard yards in the lower leagues and it looks like it's paying off. Be good if we could nick Knockaert from Brighton too.
Ouch at phelans statement in todays mail, he expects to be given funds to strengthen bet that goes down like a lead balloon with ehaw
