I have to be honest and say i was not that impressed by man city today. i know they went 2-0 up against the run of play but the way man utd came out in the second half showed how you can stop city playing. they used the midfield superb and were far the better side, we have a good midfield that can do the same, maybe not as good as man utd but still good, blackpool beat man city last season playing a tight game, ..we all know that man city are head and shoulders above us in ability but i feel they are beatable if we can keep it tight and close them down, we must stop them from playing or they could run away with it. im sure Brendan and the players watched todays game and it has given them some valuable tips on how to go about giving man city a very good game...
That they will never win the league under Mancini For what it's worth I think the Swans should just throw caution to the wind next Sunday and just go for it. City look like a team with confidence, but very little conviction. In Swansea they face unknown opposition and plenty of flair players whilst you have all sorts of inflated egos pulling in different directions. Balotelli in one, Mancini in another and Tevez in the other.
what i found is that it will be very hard to get anything but not impossible...im really looking forward to the game...
Watching them today reinforced my opinion that they are boring, and Mancini isn't a good manager. If you were given a pretty much unlimited fund is that the team you'd put together and the way you'd want them to play? 2-0 up and pretty much just wanted to park the bus after that... I'm not a big fan of Man City you might have gathered. It's not even anything to do with all the money, it just annoys me that Mancini was given a chance to live every football fans dream. Make a real life "Dream Team" and he's cocked it up.
we're playing them monday, it'll be a tough game for us, i can't see us getting anything there to be honest, but you never know.
After giving away a 2-0 lead I fear a backlash. I feel it would have been better for us I'd united won
I was thinking the same thing. Having said that there should be a fair few changes to the team so it'd be folly to judge Man City on that game.
I can't see them making too many changes Scott. Possibly aguero in if shake of foot problem for balotelli. Other than that think it will be much the same. Possibly clichy to start instead of kokarov too
"There's always a bigger fish" Qui-Gon Jin Don't let yesterday's game fool you. Utd are not Swansea if you needed telling. You can pontificate on how poor Mancini is bearing in mind the funds he's been given ad nauseum but City will be in the top 4 come end of season and we are just newly promoted. I agree we have to get at them to stop them playing and if we do that we may get somethng but it's highly unlikely. Brendan is probably privately targeting certain games that he thinks we can win or draw. Monday's won't be one of them. Not fatalistic, just realistic. I'm just hoping we play well and show what we're about. Losing by a couple of goals won't be a disaster if we do that.
HTR i agree, remember who they were playing yesterday. They are a team loaded with world class players in every position. Judging them on sundays game would be ridiculous. But, they have one weaknes and that is they have what i believe is one of the worst managers in the league. That coupled with a team full of high payed superstars, who have no team bonding and who play for themselves and not the team, may and i say may just give us a glimmer of hope. I really dont think we will get much but lets hope.
tlf: well the one thing we can do better than them is play as a unit. As individuals they are better than us in every department. And you're right, our Manager is ten times better than Mancini.
Man City should finish in the top four but they have no chance of winning the league,You can buy all the players that you want but if you can't gel them into some sort of unit and play a certain style of football then you have no chance. If Man City have any realistic ideas of winning the league then having a defensive minded Italian is not the way to go. Saying all that though i would expect some sort of backlash from them on Monday night and hope we don't take a hammering.
It's going to be very interesting to see how the game develops. Man City are a big strong athletic team. 1) We may get overrun and get steamrollered. 2) If Dyer, Sinclair & Dobbie are on their game we may work some openings and generally frustrate them if we can move the ball around. I'm inclined to think #1, but hoping for #2!
i did not see anything special with man city, its still 11 players against 11 players and we are a well drilled team that play good football, i dont fear them one bit and i bet Brendan and the players dont either. if you go into the match with the attitude that you are only there to make up the numbers then you might as well not turn up and hand the 3 points on the plate, what they have got is over priced players that are there to make money for themselves, i never saw anyone against united any better than what we have got, they have big names that were made by paying over inflated transfer fees for and that dont make them better players. we can go into this game full of confidence that we can match them in all departments, blackpool did it and we are suppose to be stronger than them,,,,,,can we get anything from the match.......to bloody right we can as long as the players go into the game believing in themselves, and if i know Brendan he will install that belief....
I think we can all talk a case for a Swans win next Monday but one thing I would bet my house on - Man City WILL finish higher than Swansea at the end of the season. But the game should provide an early marker on how the season will go.
Well it's nice to see you in such a positive frame of mind SS99 - usually you're telling everyone else to take their rose-tinted glasses off
for this game i'd play britton and allen in the middle, they're our 2 nimblest middle men, we need to out football them, cause we're never going to out muscle them.
