I love his cliches, here are a few from today~ * LJ:I've been at #BristolCity before but we're on a different level now. * We've got a million options in the transfer window. * We're talking regularly with the recruitment team . * I'll have a good chat with Steve Lansdown about what we need. * Last year was a stressful time for #BristolCity fans. He is a very confident, vocal, young individual, I honestly hope he is not being over confident.
He's in a no win situation. He needs to sound 'up for it' and enthusiastic, whilst giving us the news that further team strengthening is being carefully looked at and that communication channels are open.
'He's in a no win situation' How many City managers have had his start at AG ? Zillions spent already, can thank Ashton for his Chelsea contacts, employs more coaching staff than we've ever had, and he's afforded the unique luxury of another splurge in January. The absolute opposite of a no win situation. When new players are signed in January there will be an initial upturn as there was in August September. In a short time players see through him, some fans take longer. He has every cliche going and his set ups and subs ? - A blind man could tell you.
And so if he fails, then so be it. I shan't lose any sleep if that happens providing we stay in this division. If things don't go well then even SL will have to take notice and act.
Hate to tell you this RP, but I think the lad is doing a good job In a League where actually more clubs have bigger budgets than us than not, our results since he took over from SC have been good
smhbcfc - Am I reading this right ? http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/transfers/wettbewerb/GB2#subnavi Newcastle, Villa, Norwich, Fulham and Wolves have spent more than Bristol City this season.
Not just about transfer fees - it's about wages you are paying Also you need to consider net spend - obviously we spent more because of the sale of Kodjia
That is they knew they had money to spend before Kodger went had he not gone we would have still spent what we had based on seaso0n tickets and an extra 4000 weekly at the ground it is a balancing act with a plan b ! plan a get in players to get in crowds that worked and get rid of a couple for £'s and a few on loan that worked plan b sell KODGER money in kitty for next time, b1 hope we can get by till then b2 will be sat in top 10 or so till then b3 ..S**** BOTTOMS FELL OUT THE BUCKET AGAIN....
The sale of Kodija ?? If you believe Lansdown, I don't, we were NEVER selling to a Championship club. No, Junior was given the money before any thought of selling Kodija. The Kodija money is a huge bonus for City only spoiled by the idiot who will spend it. Of the next TWELVE players he signs I hope a few more are good enough to start.
Don't know what other offers may or may not have come in, but that, no matter what club bid, was too good to refuse! And anybody who says differently, in my humble opinion, is living in cloud cuckoo-land!!!
Of course we were going to sell for the right money (we learned the hard way with Maynard). Junior had money to spend irrespective if we sold Kodija. Those who believe all that comes from Lansdown is 'straight' are the ones who reside in Cuckoo Land. We owe Lansdown hugely, but employing Junior will prove an enormous and very expensive mistake.
And judging by some of the comments on here recently, from people with very short memories, Steve Cotterill, who DELIVERED the best season in living memory.
Don't forget the squad was woefully short of numbers/quality so we had to do that kind of business Everyone is doom and gloom because we have lost a couple of games - we have a young squad who are more than holding their own - I'm optimistic about the future
I suppose it shows the paucity of talent out there. However we can't ignore that Junior's spend is more than the 4 you mention put together(even allowing for inflation). smhbcfc 'a couple of games' - We've lost 4 of the last 6. Since the Cardiff loss, Junior has berated the players publicly eg rabbits and headlights/froze in front the cameras. He's now talking openly of bringing more players in January, which hasn't/won't help dressing room morale. In management it's unwise to rub existing players noses in the ground, it's pi**ing in the wind. It shows great naivety, but he's been a spoilt brat all his career, he'll never learn.
I'd like to take a guess that allowing for inflation David James was on more wages than any of our players that we have now!! So, seems you feel you have the way forward, with the EXPENSIVE players we have, what would you do different? You can't knock Junior for the mistakes made by individual players which have cost us games, can you? The few things he does need to sort out is, a partner for Tammy (and a replacement for when he leaves), decent keeper, and ensuring we start games with more intensity.
Jerome Sinclair of Watford (striker) may be coming our way if the Post is to be believed. Another loan.. But it is the Post
