So i've a weekend of trying to figure out wtf is going on and get it fixed by Monday morning. Til then I can just drive the Z4

No but I do gots 600 watt high pressure sodium bulbs.

Just use a normal bulb and get a dimmer switch. A lot cheaper, China

 

I've got a normal bulb but it flickers.

 

You sure you aren't switching it on and off very quickly? Easy mistake to make.
