It would be passed in a heartbeat if they removed the office and hotel development attached to the planning application. Wykeland are already building a massive speculative office development on the old golf course next to the bridge park, they don't want the competition.

    Worded for maximum spin.
The problem really just being the office. It really isn't needed and more visitors means more car parking needed. Whose idea it is to build on their car park is anyone's guess.

Then again, the Hessle Gold Club Land offices also seem unnecessary.

And there's another family pub popping up ON the roundabout. A completely inappropriate location. ERYC really need to get their house in order on planning around that junction.

    What about it?

Why would they build on their own car park then build another car park elsewhere?
And why would you expect people to use one just to get to the bridge?

So we have HCC rejecting the likes of IKEA coming to Hull only for ERYC to beat it by playing some weird top trumps game of 'How to **** ourselves over'.

I'm pretty sure IKEA not coming to Hull is IKEA's decision, not the Councils.

IKEA would never have gone into a city centre location. They clearly wanted to go into a kingsweood location.

IKEA never agreed to open a store anywhere in Hull, it was a very misleading story.

I actually agree with their refusal of an expansion of retail space at Kingswood, we need to sort the city centre, not help speed up its demise.

yeah, you might as well say HCC have stopped John Lewis/Selfridges/Harvey Nichols coming to the area - is never going to happen anyway.

Seems the ONLY sticking point for the Council is the Bridge Board wanting to build office space (which will besuperfluous to local needs (allegedly)) on the car park.

Anybody with any ounce of logic would not have refused this so it's so hard to comment without taking the piss as these people are million miles away from my mindset.

Seeing I live nowhere near North Ferriby that is a stupid remark.

Mind you, if everyone from the East Riding had deserted the club down the years like Hull folk did things would have been even worse for the club than they were.

Quote Build a bridge in Hull then.

    When you reflect
I wouldn't disagree with your last point I've said it numerous time Hull is a rugby City and without the East Riding support the crowds would be a all lot worse.

Hull is not and never has been a rugby city. Not one statistic for crowds of the various clubs, number of divisions in each sport at senior and junior level supports that assertion. There may be a lot of tossers in Hull who other clubs instead of the local one, but they are supporting football teams from elsewhere not rugby ones.
Compare the packed pubs and clubs in Hull when a football international or tournament is on compared to the apathy for a rugby league one. The two lowest attendances for the last RL World Cup were in Hull. They had crowds nearly twice the size in the rugby union stronghold of Bristol.
