A poncey organic butchers has recently opened up round my way, aiming at the pretentious middle class foodie market. Best ****ing black pudding I have ever tasted, which it should be given the price. Bloody marvelous bacon too.

The wee butcher in Callander makes the best black pudding and haggis you will ever taste.

Bit of a trek for you to buy it though admittedly

Well I won't be going all that way for a ****ing haggis, that's for certain. Might take the black pudding challenge if I'm ever in Jockland though

I was at a Burns night supper once, haggis with tatties and neeps. Admittedly that was in a pub in West London, so maybe not the best. But as I recall it tasted of **** all. You Jocks are not exactly renowned for your cuisine, in case you didn't know.

Your national drink is a different matter. I once knew a woman whose father was a buyer for a drinks company, and one of his jobs was driving round the Highlands and Islands visiting various independent distilleries. Now that's a job I would have killed for back in the day. Doubt i'd have lasted long though.

I'm not talking about Haggis you buy out Tesco mate.If you are ever up this way find a good country butcher or restaurant and order some.

As for us Scots not being renowned for our cuisine. We export Scottish fair all round the world. Beef, Lamb and especially seafood. Our smoked salmon is legendary and don't get me started on our shell fish.

Although we don't do jellied eels and mushy peas like you lot .

Forgot about fish. I knew a girl from Falkirk once who tasted of kippers.

Jellied eels are rank. My nan loved em, we used to look on in horror while she tucked in.

Now I remember it, my first girlfriend's mum was Glaswegian. She was a fair cook as it goes; all peasant stuff really, always had a pot of soup or broth on the hob, and did a mean corn beef hash. Her eggy bread was to die for.
