I am not knocking Ollie (sorry to all the Holloway deciples I wasn't being derogatory to the messieh) I was just saying he was rambling like a madman in parts.
Agree igor we need something. I really hope it works this time because we have tried everything else.
Can anyone possibly post a link to this please as I don't seem to be able to find one so I soak all this banter up? You guys have certainly got me intrigued though!
On Rooney, I wish Holloway would just stick to QPR business and stop mouthing off:- 'Everyone likes a drink' - Holloway defends Rooney New QPR manager has defended Wayne Rooney's decision to celebrate England's victory over Scotland at the weekend. The Sun published images it said showed Rooney drunk at a party late on Saturday night - a day after England's World Cup qualifying win. Holloway said: "I do not know how many photos they have got, I do not know how long ago they took those, I do not know how many times that happened because all of us have a drink mate. "Maybe we do not stay up until 5 o'clock in the morning to have a drink, but how do we know that?" Message to Olly - QPR pay your wages. Feck Rooney and the National team. Concentrate on the job in hand and earn your wages from your current employers. Thanks ever so much.
For anyone else who has not heard it, off Get West London Sport:- The Rangers new boss did not hold back in his first conference since returning http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/watch-qpr-manager-ian-holloways-12186392 Ian Holloway gave his first press conference as manager of QPR and we have the whole conference in full. It it was fair to say the new Rangers boss did not hold back from speaking his mind following the sacking of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Five things about Ian Holloway we’re pretty sure you don’t know The former Millwall manager is now in prime place to lift the team currently in 17th place in the Championship. Ollie is back at Rangers for the third time, once as player in the 1990s and between 2001-06 as manager. please log in to view this image Press conference for the appointment of new manager Ian Holloway and his Assistant Manager Marc Bircham at Queens Park Rangers Football Club at Loftus Road. (Photo: Gareth Davies) He was a Premier League midfield battler for Hoops in the 1990s, and said he was like a kid on Christmas Eve hoping Santa would bring him what he wanted as he awaited word on whether he would be allowed to take the reins a second time. As exclusively revealed by getwestlondon , he is joined on the coaching staff by another dyed-in-the-wool Hoop, although Marc Bircham's blue-and-white hair and not wool caught the eye during his 167 game stint at Rangers.
At least he's not scowling in his shot - didn't realise his autobiography was only just published. please log in to view this image Jimmy: The Autobiography of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Paperback – May 19, 2016 by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Jimmy-Autobiography-Floyd-Hasselbaink/dp/0007213883
Doesn't the first post on this thread have a the video still in it on the link? It still works but the press conference starts after a few minutes.
So after all the other chat what did he say about the players, the team, the match and our playing style going forward ... or are those not the things we want to hear from a new manager and his new #2? I can listen to ramblings about the England team, Rooney et al all day long on talksport if I'm bored! The fans want to know about our team and the new set up
I like Ollie and I desperately want him and Bircham to do well - no surprise there. We all know he has passion, which is good, but I think managers also need to display a degree of authority and gravitas and good judgement - to have the ability to command an audience (whether players or reporters) and not just play up to the gallery. I know that there are 2 sides to every argument, and I'm not deeply fond of the current 'say nothing', identikit style of interview that most managers and players adopt in front of the cameras after a game. However this was an opportunity for Ollie to set out his stall, to convince the doubters that he has the ability to command respect from his players, to show he has the tools to take this club and players by the scruff of the neck and fashion them into a solid, hardworking and stylish unit. Instead we got a bit if a car crash. It was clear to me that the Sky 'reporter' was only there to get a quote, and was determined to get that at any cost - he certainly wasn't there for a QPR pre match press conference. A more shrewd individual would not have played his game and said "I'm paid by QPR to mange QPR and talk about QPR" instead we get Ollie frothing at the mouth about the FA, England, Rooney... wtf has any of that got to do with QPR vs Norwich? Like I said, it looked to me like Birch was a bit embarrassed - and tbh I was a bit embarrassed, I don't want our club to be all about 'quotes' - I think he made a mistake. Not the end of the world, but I have small nagging feeling that it demonstrates a degree of poor judgement - it's like he has been employed for his passion and now seeks to demonstrate it at all times irrespective of how appropriate that response is to the situation. It's clear this is an emotional time for him, I just think he allowed his emotions to get the better of him - hopefully it's a one off.
I said on the politics thread that SKY grab one bit of a sentence and blow it up. Really sad that SKY need to do this. The more I watch SSN the more I don't want to watch it. So totally agree, they are not interested in QPR they just want Holloway to say something stupid. The media team need to tell Ollie to be more candid (if they can) because we don't need him to be the joke manager for Sky to re-run his soundbites every Monday morning. Agree Ollie speaks from the heart and he is an honest bloke but he needs to be able to 'have a laugh' and be serious.
Yes, that's where I expected it, but last night at home, only a blank page was displayed - I see it now though.
