With just 48 hrs to go until Saints next game Nigel has some decisions to make.

we want to keep the momentum going but Barnsley away next Saturday and an 8th straight league win is the priority.

Who would you pick from those that played saturday - at this stage of the season do we want to rest/protect players or keep fitness levels up.

i would like to see a bit more of de ridder and Forte (their pace together should be good) and one or two youngsters - reeves, doble, ward-prowse.

who would you play? what will adkins go for?

    Not Forecast.

I want to see De ridder play a full match, but on the wing. I didn't think he was that brilliant when he came on upfront never really got the ball and a chance to run at the opponent. He was by no means bad however. Also did anyone else see him at half time training dear god that boys got some skills in his locker and if he can manage any of them in a match he will be a legend soon enough. Wouldn't mind seeing doble have a run around either.

I think David Connolly should get a rest, he's great but lets remember he is 34 and could get an injury at any time so save him for the league!
I'd like to see Martin start, and maybe Bialkowski considering it's a cup game. Maybe players like Holmes could get a run too, maybe Doble and Reeves? I don't think we should weaken our side too much though as I think Torquay may up their game and we shouldn't underestimate anyone

Hi RWMK, to be honest we could field a totally different XI to Saturday's team and still win comfortably, such is the strength in depth at the club now.
I follow Torquay as my second club and they are weaker than last season due to Paul Buckle leaving and him taking some players with him to Bristol Rovers.
I know this won't happen, but I would like to see this line up just to test the strength of the squad...

    Bart
    Butterfield, Jaidi, Seaborne, Dickson
    De Ridder, Chaplow, Schneiderlin, Holmes
    Forte, Barnard

This is the most likely team IMO....

    Bart
    Butterfield, Fonte, Martin, Harding
    De Ridder, Cork, Chaplow, Lallana
    Connolly, Lambert

Definately give Martin another game, because he may not play Saturday if everyone is fit. He needs to gain experience and sense that Nigel has confidence in him. Would rather keep Lambert on bench and use him only if essential. Getting a bit twitchy after the spate of broken legs over the weekend. If Barneys fit I would play him. However, Nigel treats Rickie as a talisman and tends to play him every game. He may decide to go with Rickie, then sub him if we get a couple of early goals. So as follows:

    Bart
    Butterfield Martin Forte Dickson
    de Ridder Schneiderlin Chaplow Holmes
    Guly Barnard

Subs. Kelvin, Forte, Lambert, Cork, Seabourne, Hammond, Lallana

    Bart
    Butterfield jaidi Seabourne Dickson
    de Ridder Morgan Chaplow Holmes
    Forte Barnard

Subs: Davis Martin Harding cork lambert lallana (maybe a youth team player)

Giving pretty much everyone a rest. Big stars on bench if needed. Give a bench place to ward-prouse or another youngster and then put them on for 30mins maybe

Basically the same as most if they are fit: Bart (GK) Butterfield (RB) Martin (CB) Seaborne (CB) Dickson (LB) De Ridder (RB) Schneiderlin (CM) Chaplow (CM) Holmes (LM) Forte (S) Barnard (S)

I would probs rest players like Lallana, Cork, Connolly. Much more important they are fresh for Saturday. Happy to have Lambert on the bench and would be great to see a few young ones get there name in the squad!!
