Griffin was convicted for his anti-Semitism before being charged for his comments on Islam.

There's a much wider battle going on worldwide that the U.K. and U.S. etc are fully involved with. A battle militarily, economically and ideologically, particularly within the muslim world over the last 20-30 years (certainly after the cold war). I think the establishment are doing their best domestically to try to be fair, to try to appear balanced so that at home we can demonstrate it isn't based on anti-islamic agenda. The same situation can't be said of other religions like Christianity and Judaism because the spotlight isn't on them. That's my thoughts on it anyway.

I would also point out that those sexual exploitation crimes were dealt with. The other thing to mention is that actually it wasn't just confined to muslim men, but sikh men also. IMO it demonstrated a cultural problem rather than a religious extremist one. They certainly weren't doing it through any misguided religious ideology.

Also, before I forget, in my own field, you will have heard of the Trojan Horse in schools in the West Midlands. All dealt with swiftly and expediently as a result of a whistleblower who was taken seriously.

He was convicted for an article in his magazine claiming the holocaust was a hoax. I guess questioning such things falls outside of free speech.

It's another of those things that I believe is better openly debated in public to prove the nonsense of some of the claims, rather than give them credence by pushing them underground, so only believers in the nonsense talk to other believers.

As an aside, here's Norman Finkelstein, a Jewish guy who lost a lot of family in the camps, version on the Holocaust (he's obvioulsy not a denialist) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust_Industry

Dealt with? In went on for years after it had been brought to the attention of the Authorities. The Trojan Horse Schools had been going on a while too, not just the one.

For me, the bigger problem the Authorities face are measures like those Trump proposes. The extremists don't want people leaving the middle east and coming here to find it's peaceful and they're accepted, they actually want the borders closed so they keep more people and their propaganda is less open to challenge. However, a lot of the fighting is a consequence of measures initiated by the west, for a variety of different reasons, few if any humanitarian.

Holocaust denial isn't illegal in the UK.
In his own words, "I do not have a conviction for Holocaust denial."
I can't find a copy of the article though, unfortunately. For obvious reasons, really.

He did say this a while ago:
"An unholy alliance of leftists, capitalists and Zionist supremacists has schemed to promote immigration and miscegenation with the deliberate aim of breeding us out of existence in our own homelands."
    Sounds like The Zlatan! <laugh>

Part of the reason you won't find it, is that the courts decided that releasing the records would be against his rights. He was charged under the Public Order Act IIRC.

Anyone posting it would also risk facing prosecution for the same crime that he was convicted of too, I'd have thought.
Might be available somewhere online, but I can't find it. Makes judging the conviction rather difficult.

    It's academic, he's history.

A more productive discussion would be around the current hate mongers, and helping people see who they actually represent. This blanket "defence" of Islam doesn't do that.

That does highlight that media coverage combined with suppression of speech doesn't work in combating extremists, as he went on from there.

They also have an infant mortality rate 20 times that of the UK. Do you not think that might have some bearing on the birth rate. Until they can afford to improve their healthcare, or more precisely the developed world cease charging them excessively for medicines they will have more children. The mortality rate of children between 1 and 4 is 274 per 1000. Sitting in your garage surrounded by piles of empty pizza boxes you have no idea about the real world

No not at all. I know because I was directly involved with the aftermath. The whistleblowing resulted in immediate Ofsted inspections under Section 8 (not your normal inspection but one directed by the Secretary of State) of ALL the schools under suspicion. Yes, the schools continued but the leadership and management, as well as school governors, and many staff, were removed immediately. New teams were put in place virtually overnight. I know because our site was one which directly oversaw the change in one of those schools.

I agree with your second paragraph. The middle-east is a ****ing mess tbh. The best thing that'll happen to that place will be when the oil runs out. Not only because the West will want nothing more to do with them, but also because the corruption and dictatorships will have one less thing to prop them up. They might just have to actually educate themselves and progress as a society. You see imo, the measures initiated by the west that you mentioned, will only work when you're dealing with people who will betray what's in the best interests of their own nation to make a quick buck. This then feeds into the extremist ideology of terrorists who use this (wrongly) to sucker in the naive and hopeless. In the past I'd have said **** the dictators, let the people decide their own future with democratically elected governements. But then you see the Arab Spring, and I can't help thinking that was a failure. It certainly seems like it. How hopeless is that???? Imagine you live there. You'd honestly think **** this, nothing matters! Although maybe meaningful democracy is a gradual process which will take a century to establish after the Arab Spring, and will go through turbulent times during the process.

Blaming Islam for Jihadists is like blaming Catholicism for the IRA

I'll add Nick Griffin to the list of far right bigots that you've defended on these threads
