Heaton is pointless imo. Both Hart and Forster are ahead of him in the pecking order, and younger. Pickford is (possibly) the future, makes sense to get him integrated now.
I think Heaton and Pickford should have had a half each. Hart doesn't need to be playing to night at all imo.
Heaton is a great keeper, I'd have him in front of Forster for sure. He's been outstanding this season, his game against us is probably the best 90 mins you'll see from any keeper this season.
I reckon he will have mentioned this in his team talk.. A win almost guarantees him the job I reckon..
Was meant tongue in cheek mate (presume it hasn't come across that way!) Heaton's having a great season but just because he deserves to play doesn't mean anything - plenty players who don't deserve to be in the squad/team have been picked despite others being in better form - one of the main reasons I've barely bothered my arse watching England over recent seasons. Has to be said though we're actually playing quite well tonight.
I'm enjoying this actually it makes a welcome change! Lingard and Sterling's link up play has been a joy to watch, I just wanna see Rashford in the mix now to top it off.
So does Pickford, easily. Hart shouldn't have played a part imo and the both the real form players given a chance.
Hart is in good form also. I've got to disagree here, if Spain put 5 past Pickford/Heaton that gives the young lad the worst start to his international career, it was a sensible move by Southgate to play JH, especially with Southgate playing for his job possibly. Credit where it's due, GS has got this spot on.
Disagree, I hate that attitude to youth players. Like they're all photocopied precious little flowers who should be sheltered from the wind. Players have different needs. Pickford isn't going to crumble from conceding goals. It's happening week in and week out with **** defense in front of him yet he's going from strength to strength. No need to wrap him up in cotton wool when he's blatantly proving he doesn't need it. He's a new player to you not being a Sunderland fan so fair dos. Us who've followed him rising through the ranks know wrapping that lad up in cotton wool is a completely useless exercise cause he simply doesn't need it. He's not there to make up the numbers and his form deserved some game time every bit as much of Heaton. Besides, Heaton wasn't prevent from having game time with the U21s so there's more of an argument that calling up and not playing him is more detrimental because he's lost game time elsewhere than there is for sheltering him. The established Number when who's no longer developing was not the sensible option in a pointless friendly imo. Reeks of a man picking team for selfish career reasons than that of a sensible national team coach who's using a friendly against tough opponents to put new blood up against a stern challenge imo.
