Less likely to get a red these days, but had to be a yellow. There was no way that he could have thought he could get the ball....he played the man.
Okay well maybe not a dive. But certainly played for it by walking into him. Poor from Reina though. Really dislike Vardy though.
I personally thought it was no penalty. Vardy deliberately made contact after he messed up his control so badly. The reverse angle shows that his direction of running is different from that of the ball, he moves so as to deliberately get hit rather than get the ball back.
No argument about it being a penalty....the ball was within Vardy's reach when the keeper got hold of him. The keeper had no chance of getting the ball and couldn't have even have thought he would. Should have been penalty and a yellow card....probably would have been if it wasn't a friendly.
Shame to see Lallana subbed....if he'd played on, he might have got really hurt Well at least for a week
I think the new rule is that if a penalty is given, then the red card isn't given unless it is serious foul play, as in dangerous. All to do with wiping out the double punishment of a penalty and a red card for the same offence. Last defender, stopping a goal scoring opportunity outside the box would still be a red card.
