Good morning, Dave; morning, everyone. :)

Went to see England U18s play Poland U18s last night. 2-0. Some talented young lads there.

"Well Marianne, it's come to this time when we are really so old and our bodies are falling apart and I think I will follow you very soon. Know that I am so close behind you that if you stretch out your hand, I think you can reach mine.

"And you know that I've always loved you for your beauty and for your wisdom, but I don't need to say anything more about that because you know all about that. But now, I just want to wish you a very good journey.

"Goodbye old friend. Endless love, see you down the road."

Saw about Leonard Cohen on the news this morning - they gave him a shamefully small bit of air time. One of my all time favourites - up there with Dylan.

The last of the Magnificent Seven. A fine actor who may well have gone onto greater things but was dividing his time between acting and politics. I might see if I can get his book for Xmas, about the McCarthy era in the film industry and a fleshed out version of his Ph.D. thesis.

    Hello & welcome Asimov!
I was in Scotland, still in the UK I think, for a while anyway. I live here too but I don't know for how much longer.

Miserable day here...grey, cold and wet. Off to Northants for the weekend shortly where the company and the food and drink with be good even if the weather isn't!

Magnificent Seven remains a favourite film...best film music too!

Today I received a parcel that I had been expecting any day from the UK. As we were out doing our shop for the week our post lady, Sophie, left us a very nice note to say that it was with our neighbour Josiane. Wednesday afternoon while I was out, Mme had a telephone call telling her that the delivery she was expecting couldn't be made, and asked her to telephone a number. The number given was so quick she didn't have chance to write it down. Thursday afternoon I had a call from the same number, and once again they wanted me to phone a number. When I asked who they were they hung up. Seems as if it was a scam, wanting people to phone a premium rate number, but as we were waiting for a parcel it was possible that it could have been held up, and by chance they had found someone expecting a parcel. Just how many people are out there trying to relieve people of their money?

Still on a better note I have just dined on baked trout that came from a local fish farm, complete with all vegetables that were produced within 20 miles of here. Followed it up with the last of the seasons raspberries from the fruit farm just up the road, and some of the local wine. I am sure that cologne would approve. :emoticon-0100-smile

My mother-in-law had a white A6 piece of card, looking for all the world like it had been put through the door by the Post Office, its layout, typeface identical to the real thing. "To arrange redelivery please telephone..." innocuous-looking but premium-rate number. Turned out everyone in the area had one.

Morning all, grey and damp outside. I put it down to the fact that Mme asked me to put a new windscreen wiper on her car and now it is too wet to stand outside and do it.:emoticon-0101-sadsm
