Seems Ferrari are appealing their appeal being rejected. Where does it end? Going to appeal the 2012 Brazil result next?

He needs to be careful about crossing the line between loosening up and losing focus. Yes its great to see him having some fun, but from McLaren's point of view it doesn't look good on them as it suggests he is not that serious about what he is doing.

Hopefully he still has the fire burning so if he gets the car he wants he can really take the fight to the front again, rather than simply cashing his pay cheques before retirement and having some fun at the same time.

Both the Merc were pretty impressive, that gap on such a short lap is utter dominance.

Comments like this are reassuring. Thanks, Smithers. It shows that there is some genuine appreciation of what is required at the top level. Maybe you caught my eye just in time.

I apologise – especially to the long-standing members of this site – that my contribution (or lack thereof) may have suggested retirement. I will endeavour to update with my view on recent races in due course. I keep race notes, so despite lateness which may render any further comment as outdated, they may be relevant if people are still interested in the past couple of races, and perhaps a few other contentious issues.

With a bit of luck, I'll get some time to fit in a bit more after today's race (well, almost today) has completed. Once again; sincerest apologies. Let's keep this place going.

    Here's hoping for a classic race! :)

Well this it it I suppose.

I think there could be a very big accident first corner and anything could happen.

    Very exciting

This is it now. rgen put is in wall in last corner before making the start.

    Bound to have whiting flapping.

I predict a safety car start here... people on sky saying standing start 100%

I can't see them daring to have one of the two mercs planking it at start and will bottle it.

    Anything could happen here

Grosjean in the wall at low speed could still have happened under safety car, best not start it at all...

It's raining, it will continue to rain for an hour according to forecasts. Why delay for ten minutes? What's the point in that? Nothing will improve in that time, surely?

Cos whiting is flapping that's why.

The 10mins will do nothing. the last corner is lethal. he is pissing himself with worry his call could affect WDC. he just doesn't want to see either car in a wall after 3 corners.
