Lefties wont read right wing media, and righties wont read left wing media, so in terms of swaying the tides, they are both useless.

Case in point, look at Nick Griffin.
He was allowed on question time and was shown up to be the fool he is. He was just wrong, and he was wrong for the wrong reasons, and his appearance on the show allowed others to see that.
Were he not given that chance, then he wouldn't have been able to hang himself with his rhetoric.

Thats basically telling someone that their whole way of thinking is illegal, that there whole belief system is against the law. It insults them, labels them and then punishes them. What do you think will happen? They will see the light and go left wing? Or become angry, feel victimized and double down on their right wing thinking.

I think we (as the left wing) had a part to play because we sometimes block people from going left by insulting them and instantly feeling offended by their views.
And if you stop someone coming left, they will go the only other way they can.....further Right!

In the video he mentions that the left won the cultural war, and we did.
It's no longer deemed acceptable to be homophobic, racist or misogynistic. And thats a big win. But when confronted with views different from our own, instead of debating and talking them down (which we all know is fairly easy, we do it all the time on here), we hurl abuse and push them away.

I am not saying anyone is going to be politically converted on a forum, a forum is for ****s and giggles.
And I am not saying that dinosaurs like Pete could ever be made to see the light, on a forum or real life, but even if they could, our tactics would not be the way to do it.

The left (and I include myself) got too smug, and we have paid the price....and the price is the Tories, Brexit and Donald Trump.
Time for a change in tactics.

You are right. Accusing someone of racism just because their political views differ from yours has the opposite of the desired effect. In your case though, you are racist because you said you only want to live with white christians. So in your case they are right

Think about this. I can call Pete a fat **** with impunity, till my heart's content. But of he was black and I called him a b***k **** i get done for racial abuse?

Or if i knocked him because he is fat its assault and i get 6 months probation.
If i knock him out becaise he is black its "racially aggravated assault" and i get 2 years in prison?

Can you not see how this could give the impression that minorities are special? Or protected more than others?

You cannot force someone to not be racist, or homophobic by punishing them with the law!
