how do we need a striker ?! we've got fryatt, simpson, mclean & adebola. fryatt is usually deadly and simpson is better than he showed against blackpool. we do not need to waste money on another striker. if anything we still need a creative midfielder, or NP needs to play koren in his preferred position.
1 game and already two injuries on our strike force. Mclean and Adebola. Don't u think we should have another player? its a longgggggggggg season.
We need a striker cos we only scored 21 goals at home last season 52 in all one of the lowest in the league. Simpson has had a full season, Mclean half a season. Its long enough to see they arent good enough. Besides NP doesnt seem to fancy Simpson anyway. It has been said all summer we need a CM and a goal scorer. We havent got either. Adestrolla is a disaster. The money needs to go on a forward.
rooney could have been in our squad at the start of last season and still wouldnt have scored many, if at all. we all said that last season we were missing creativity and consistant goal supply, which comes from the wings & midfield. nothing wrong with our strike force. its more than enough in this league. mclean isnt out for long and adebola is a bit of a useless donkey, should never have signed him in the first place. the allams have told the fans & NP that they wont deny a new signing if its needed, we needed a good target man and they were a good few options out there for the right money...
I'm sorry, as much as i think Simpson has potential (locked away deep inside), he's had plenty of time to show us what he can do, but time and time again he messes up easy chances. We do need a striker, Simpson and Mclean aren't good enough, Adebola isn't prolific. That leaves us with Fryatt, who can be deadly yeah. But we should have signed someone like Chopra who is proven.
Think you have answered your own question there. Ade is a bit of a donkey, yet he started for us!! Mclean isnt good enough his touch is piss poor. If Fryatt has a slump in form we are in trouble. I rate Simpson but NP doesnt so lets act quickly.
end of the day, can you really see NP asking the allams for more funds to buy a striker ? when not even a season ago he spend a good few million on fryatt & mclean ? if we get a 5th striker who will obviously have to be better than simpson & mclean, what are we supposed to do with the two of them ? 3 including the donkey NP doesnt look like a guy who will acknowledge he signed 2-3 average strikers who arnt good enough... especially since they havnt even been here that long. simpson's had 1 season, mclean half a season & donkey a few weeks.
So NP goes to the Allams, i want 850k to sign Ayala. Ok is he gonna be first choice? No not at first he will be back up as Jack is skipper and James Chester is doing great. So we are gonna give you 850k for a back up when you know we are skint. Yes im hoping he really keeps them up to their game. So that means he may not get a look in then? Could be? Or NP goes to them, look i made a fuk up. Dele is slower than i thought. Mclean just isnt good enough and i really dont fancy Simmo at all. Im pretty sure i can offload Simmo to a London club, if we offer Mclean back to Posh and just keep Dele for an emergency 15 minutes at the end it wont be so bad. But the point is we arent going to win games without proven goalscorers on the pitch Mr Allam- so make it happen. If someone is stupid enough to take Kilbane anything is possible.
We also had one of the best overall, but our goals conceded colum will have been significantly hampered by the defence we started the season with which contained Gardner and Zayatte. I don't have the stats to hand but I bet if you looked at the 2nd half of the season only (when most of our current team was established) we probably had a better defence statistically. Looking at it right now, our defence is probably our biggest strength, so if it was a little bit better than yours, there'd be no shame in that.
I'm not sure of the full stats like I say, but I'd have thought that even given the last few games when they all started looking a bit dodgy we'd still have conceded less goals than most teams in that second half of season. I'm talking about elminating those early defeats at Burnley, Millwall and Donny with the old guard at the back.
Indeed. I did a reckoning at the end of the season on all the defensive partnerships (and you'd be surprised how many there were). The best by far was Gerrard and Chester. When Hobbs came into the equation we stopped having clean-sheet after clean-sheet and conceeded nearly every game. Some might argue that was because NP decided to be more expansive in a late effort to get into the play-offs. There is probably some truth in that but I also think the loss of Rosenior and the moving of Chester away from his best position to right back was also a big factor.
The defence did start leaking more goals when Hobbs joined, for certain. But maybe that was because he replaced Chester rather than Gerrard. I am struggling to understand why anybody would consider Adebola a "disaster" after one competitive game (half a game in his case). He might not be Messi but he offers something we were clearly lacking last season, cost nowt and is probably not on astronomical wages. Bullard is a disaster, not Adebola.
Oh dear...No surprise there then...There will be a string of clubs in for Ayala now that it is plastered all over the media....Move on to the next target...Pref a forward who knows where the onion bag is...
Our defence actually improved second half of the season, our downfall if you like was away games, our home record was the best in the division. Anyway it will be interesting to see where he goes, hope you won't think less of us if he comes to the swans, as a player I suppose it's dreamland that two clubs at least are after you, it will be sorted soon one way or the other.
Theres nothing concrete in the story. Swansea HAVEN'T put in a bid, it's just reported that they're interested in the player and lets be honest, who wouldn't be? Ayala's currently in talks with us and us alone, and until that changes I remain sure that he'll put pen to paper on a contract with HCAFC. This talk about us going for another striker is getting silly now. Theres no way the Allams will fund a move for a striker as we've brought in 4 within a year and spent the past part of 3.5 million on them. The only way we're getting a striker in is if we sell both Simpson and Mclean for decent money which: 1) Isn't going to happen 2) I doubt either would actually want to move that badly 3) What would be the point of selling 2 strikers to bring in one? What would we do if one of them got injured? It wouldn't benefit the squad at all but instead hinder it. Also what's with the comments saying our defence is probably slightly better than Swansea's? Our defence is strong, and with Ayala would be silly strong but I'd still take Ashley Williams over Ayala, Chester or Hobbs imo. It's not as strong, but who cares anyway? They're in the premier league and us the championship.
You may find we might be about to off-load one of our high-earners which may well allow another forward to come in. Just a little appetiser for you there!!
Just because we may be offloading the likes of Bullard, Olofinjana and Ghilas doesn't mean that theres going to be funds available for transfers. It just means our astronomical wage budget would be decreased by about 100k per week, making us a financially sounder club for the future.
