I was listening to an interesting debate earlier.
Someone came out with a comment that I believe myself and it happens here.
Somewhere along the way people who are themselves normal free thinking people tried to stop certain groups from spilling out their rhetoric in public or in the media.
Their intentions were good, they were trying to stop fascists and racists from having a forum. It turned out to be a bit of an own goal, by trying to stop what is free speech it galvanised certain groups and they took advantage of the publicity.

The results are clear in the rise of parties like the BNP and ultimately it has lead to Trump becoming president.

If these groups are allowed to spout their nonsense they'll hang themselves. It's a pity it's come to this but the only way out is to allow them their voice and for the opposition to do better, to make a better world through fair policies that include all. The greed of capitalism had truly dropped us into the mire and it'll be a long way back.

I was with him for bits of it, but claiming that insults and abuse don't work when talking about that election is clearly wrong.
That's basically all Trump did. He did it in the primaries and it was virtually all that his election campaign was.

His position on a shutting down discussion is clearly nonsense, too.
Look at virtually all of the mainstream media in this country.
The Sun, The Mail, The Express, The Times, The Telegraph, Sky News? This is not left-wing opinion, is it?
If people are afraid of sharing their right-wing opinions, then you have to wonder just why.

The university safe space stuff and banning gymnasts for making jokes? Yep, they're ****.
The left not doing anything in a lot of cases and failing to vote in the US election? Very true.

These results aren't about conversation, dialogue and explaining well-worked policies.
They're about charisma, anger and selling a brand.

It's this weird safe space thing. It has a place, but it's not in any of the places that it's currently being used.
If you're not challenged and made to examine your preconceptions at University, then they're doing something wrong.
That's the worst place to have them.

The BNP's pretty much dead, by the way, but I assume that you meant the EDL or UKIP or both.
I agree that they should be allowed to talk and encouraged to say what they really mean.
Forcing them to use innuendo and dog-whistles helps them. It makes their message more palatable.

Actually I agreed with every word. Clinton lost the election rather than Trump winning it as was borne out by the low turnout and her inability to attract enough votes from minorities. Like with Brexit, her arrogance was probably her undoing rather than any magical tactics from the winning side.

It's always about change. It's nothing much new, just the, unusualness and extremity of the candidate, that's all.

Hers a list of presidents since Ww2. It's pretty much 8 years of one party, change, 8 years, change....
