Stroller agree I think it has been a wrong move by the club (it's not just me others on here have said the same). As for what I decide about Holloway? Like any new manager that comes to QPR I will support, I always have. However if he fails I won't care about the sentimental rubbish. I will be the same as I was with JFH. If he aint good enough, get rid. One other thing about this appointment... I think there maybe more to this than just bringing back Ollie. Time will tell.
I can't comment on how good or bad Hollaway was last time round because I don't get to see the matches but either way, I'm banking on his increased knowledge of the game ( thru experience ) and having won a couple of promotions will help him in his decision making. I like to think we all get a little wiser as we get older, so hopefully, the combination of passion and experience will enable us to rise again. The one thing JFH lacked was he carried a poker face 24/7. He never smiled, he never show any infectious emotion that the players or the fans could latch onto. Hopefully, that will now change.
I never saw Jimmy that way - didn't you see the meetings with the Supporter groups, plenty of smiles and jokes there? - and I don't think the Players did either. Certainly all the stuff I have read from them has been very positive on Jimmy. Latest one this week from Robinson on the support he got from him during his long injury break, and before that from Perch. He''s no 24/7 poker face in the dugout either, but then people with forced fixed smiles on their faces 24/7, piss me off the most.
Well, I've given my opinion ... I think he is the wrong appointment for the club (and the two and a half year contract is just completely inept by the management of the club). I loved Holloway for the way he dealt with a cash poor club and got us back, at least, to the Championship (and still remember how he left us). He was in the history - he definitely isn't the right person for this club right now. This is completely reactionary and just shows how desperate this clubs board are (and how incapable they are of finding a decent manager, a right manager, to do the job this club needs - they should be ashamed at the level they are meant to be operating, and I am surprised that Hoos has allowed it to happen). All that said, it's my club and I've been with them for 40 years, been a season ticket holder, travelled the country to watch the team, supported and followed every match, even when living abroad - I hope I'm wrong, but my gut says the hankies will be out again as it all ends in tears and the fans turn on Holloway and the board for another poor appointment. It's not a time for sentiment or soundbites, this club needs rebuilding to get back to being a great club again. I'm just not convinced a bit of passion is enough. We need discipline, respect, hard work and a plan to move this club forward. Playing our players in their right positions will be a great start!
This. Wouldn't have been my choice either but he is our manager now so let's see what he can do and get behind him and the team........lets support Qpr and see what will be.
Fair enough mate. As mentioned, it seemed that every image l saw of him was a poker face but with not being local, l can only try to piece things together. Naturally, the papers only tell us so much so and possibly, not the true account as you have mentioned. Cheers.
Only time will tell if it's a good move or not. We have tried the experienced big budget route, we have tried the up coming 'good coach' route and all have failed. I'm hoping Holloway has the balls to play 2 up front Washington in his correct position with either poulter or cylla. The bloke has character and charisma and regardless of his tactical ability he can surely do no worse than his predecessors. Would be interesting to see how the likes of the warnocks and Holloways of the football world got on with massive transfer budgets compared to the hughes and mourinhios with limited war chests.
Can we please take it as a given on this thread, that in light of Holloway's appointment, all posters will continue supporting the club, the manager and his team and the players, and wish them the best? I cannot believe there is anyone on here that won't. That's not the issue. I'm not willing Holloway to fail, but I'm expecting him to. That's simply my assessment based on his past performances, and I hope I fall flat on my nose on it. But if he does fail, then in my opinion, it's a hell of a nail in the coffin of the owners.
Shoot the man down before he even starts work on the team! Let's wait & see what he can offer & hopefully he's learnt from last time & his two last managerial appointments.
Well we've got him now so should look to the positives, which at least I can find with him, unlike Redcrapp: - he's nearly 100% QPR - he knows us, the fans, better than anyone else at the club, and knows what to expect from us - he's lively, funny and likeable, our first manager to meet these criteria since himself - he's probably cheap - he should know this league inside out - if he plays the kamikaze football he did at Blackpool in the Prem it will be great fun My expectations are pretty low, and I think his appointment shows the board has settled for a long stint in the lower leagues, but I'm looking forward to it in an odd, I'm trapped on a rollercoaster, kind of way.
Cannot disagree with anything Stan says. Got to say I have got fed up watching a club that people dislike, and those people I must say have included me on several occasions. A club that has splashed the cash and just looked pathetic. More recently a club that has been turgid to watch...that I have been ashamed to bring people to watch...as it was so inept and boring. I pay my money to be entertained, to win matches ...JFH was so concerned about not losing......anyway I do think Ollie will make my team fun to watch. I believe he has enough about him not to worry the relegation area.. If his enthusiasm and desire catches on with this group of players, who I genuinely believe are far better than their league position suggests, who knows. But it has got to be more fun......hasn't it
Agree with this, wouldn't have been my first choice but there are certainly far poorer options I feared we'd go for. Another positive of Holloway is that once he got Palace promoted he quickly recognised he wasn't he right man to keep them there and stepped away. Pulis came in and they are now established in the Prem.

It taught me about how the structure is so important in getting your product right - the relationship between producer and director is so crucial. I'll use that experience to help develop my working relationship with Les. Covering games as a TV pundit has also opened my eyes to how much football means to supporters. You never really get to feel the sheer passion from supporters when you're in the dugout as you're too busy concentrating on the game. But when you're in the studio at matches, you really appreciate the emotion in the stands. I just hope I can convince my players to appreciate being professional footballers and to give their all for the fans that pay good money to come and support them week-in, week-out. I want my players to relate to the people - otherwise football will slip too far away from the working man. That's what I want to do at QPR. You can make players better and that's what we're going to try and do. Give me that instead of overpaid, underworked, ageing, ignorant, mercenaries, who are just there to pick their money up. QPR have made those mistakes in the past, but those days are gone. I want players that roll their sleeves up and don't sulk. You have to wear that shirt with pride. Who knows where that could take us? If I can end up being QPR manager - twice - then anything in life in possible.
Why was Holloway brought in before? Because we had no money to spend and he was a cheap option. Why did Clement/Rowlett or someone decent not get the job? Let's say they didn't want it. I ask why not? Holloway has been brought in to appease the fans because times are going to become hard (don't blame Brexit). on and off the pitch. A backseat for TF recently meant only one thing in my eyes. Remember the days when QPR were in the Prem? TF was a media whore on every station nearly everyday and now? Expect changes and tough times ahead.
You have to say if he can instill half of his enthusiasm into our players we might just start moving in the right direction. Let's hope he can produce another Blackpool to confound all his critics, myself included...
