During the half time chat in today’s live TV match between West Ham and Cardiff, the commentator asked Lee Dixon and then Dave Jones who they tipped for promotion, they both agreed that the bookies favourites are the most likely but Dave Jones surprised Dixon and the other guy by stating that Portsmouth are his dark horses for promotion and not just because Stevie Cotterill is a good friend.

Lets hope Jones is right. On a side note what a shocking game and poor atmosphere as well. Matt Taylor was the best player on the pitch, wish we had got him back!

Can anyone make sense of the sacking of Dave Jones by Cardiff......He has had them up the top pretty well placed each year for what three years is it? He just could not get the backing for that last player to push them over the line. Did he really deserve the push?

No Beddytare, I don't think he deserved the push. He has been unlucky over the years. Is he still out of work, or has he got another job yet ?

He's not taken for granted, we all appreciate him very much. He would easily fit into any club in the NPC, but only wants to play for one. Amen.

Imagine he was more upset about being hung out to dry by his employers for competently false accusations.

Have to agree with that. I was very disappointed in the club's decision.

You have a point........Saints fans would agree with you....he was treated unfairly in one sense. However his salary was paid in full right up to the end of his contact + an average of his bonuses that he could reasonably expect if he stayed. It was just over 1 million. So not an untidy sum.
So he could not say he was not compensated. No matter how unjust Perhaps!

So when Dave Jones was manager of Cardiff, presumably he had somewhere to keep his coat? That would be Davey Jones' Locker! Aha

Well, I wonder what Dave meant by play up? After tonight, perhaps he meant in the way that my toaster sometimes "plays up". ;)
