I loved the picture of Cortese on the front of yesterdays programe all that was missing were two muscular minders in shades stood either side. This guy exudes confidence and cool he treats the press as if they are some one who crossed the' family'and as Pardew found out right or wrong he will wield the hatchet if need be. He gives us no bull and we are infomed at the appropriate times of his feelings and news. This is in total contast to to hockey boy who treated the fans with distain and seemed to like the sound of his own voice when talking to the press. The turnaround at this club in such a short period since he'entered the building' has been miraculous this guy is no messer and be prepared for more good times

No way would I mess with the Don,most people now are getting the idea of what he is all about and what the club is all about.Cortese is the best thing to happen to this club in a long time and he might be our best Chariman ever.:1980_boogie_down:

Wouldn't mess with him at all - I think Punch and Alex have both learned that lesson over the last few months.

He's a brilliant asset and hopefully he'll get us back to the top flight in his reign as he so dearly wants to for Markus

Hope he stays after we get to the Premiership and not say job done for Markus and go back to his financial job in Switzerland (which must be a good life). He has expressed a desire to own a vineyard in Tuscany (who wouldn't).

He knows how to run a club and is efficeint at doing so. I'm grateful for what he's done for us too. However meeting him in Switzerland in the pre-season tour has somewhat tainted my image of him. Would I mess with him? No as this bloke knows what he wants and know hows to get it.

He's a nice guy whilst speaking to you, just something I overheard him speaking to one of his friends. "Fans like these won't be at the club in a few years" Understandably at the time me and a few mates have had a few beers enjoying ourselves. Now whether he meant that maliciously or not I'm not sure, it's just has tainted my image of him slightly. Forever greatful for what he has done though, and I wouldn't want anyone else running our club at this moment in time. Just travelling so far for a couple of pre-season games and hearing that I wasn't too impressed.

Sorry to hear that as fans who follow the team abroad show real dedication. Not nice for you but hope it was a misunderstanding. If he thinks they are all Chianti-drinkers in the Premiership he's in for a shock. Guess, he's not a guy who would naturally mix with football fans in his former life. As you said, best man to run our club at the moment, so too much to hope he'd also be universally popular.

I think people have to remember that it was Cortese who started the whole Saints recovery ball rolling. We all really appreciate Markus for putting the money down, but it was Nicola who convinced him to do it. As he said just after they took Saints over, Saints is his baby. None of this would have happened if Cortese hadn't brought SFC to Liebherr's attention. As far as his personal presentation, I'm absolutely fine with it. The photo on the first programme of the season will no doubt be followed by other Saints, be they players, managers, coaches, or whoever is the major subject within the programme. I find the whole Don Cortese image an absolute hoot, and it fits in with the way that, when the Football League asked Nicola if he could offer financial advice, he did, after looking at the books, and also announced that they were not running themselves very well at all. That certainly rubbed the establishment up the wrong way. He also doesn't suffer the established hierarchy. Saints are a middle/top order club, in size and would be expected to roll over if a Top 4/6 club came to poach a player. Cortese's attitude is, if we want him to stay, the answer is NO, unless you want to pay simply enormous sums of money. I also liked his attitude towards Jason Puncheon, who was called into Cortese's office and told that he was a Saints player and would remain a Saints player until he was allowed to go. Until then he would train on his own or go on loan. When it's a serious matter, he doesn't take any BS from anybody, and I can only admire that. Yet he also listens to all sides. He can also be a reasonable bloke. He personally came out to fans, queueing for tickets, with coffee, and handed over a free season ticket for life to a family with a new born baby. A nice gesture. Yes there was a booking fee that was introduced. Get over it.

I don't care about Cortese's supposedly inflated ego, or his Italian suit dress sense. As long as he works to the continued success of Saints, he's fine by me.
