So by your reckoning Ply an anarchistic society is preferable to the normal order of things. It will be interesting to see how much damage will be caused by Trump/Brexit in the medium term before everyone realises it was great fun but ultimately didn't solve anything. Normality and sanity will eventually be restored and everyone can get back to the real world where we rub along together despite the obvious shortcomings in the system.
I'm not saying anything of the sought Lyndy.....just giving reasons why it's happened.....it is rather amazing how white... blue collared workers in the States have had enough of seeing their jobs disappearing to the far east and the empty factories that are just rusting away....bringing poverty and food queues to the riches country on earth...total disillusion that they have been forgotten.....Donald Trump has tapped into that and they have latched on to him and hope he can change their situation. Controlling immigration and getting rid of millions of illegals has also hit home with many others....Hillary Clinton is seen as a continuation of the same and many don't trust her to help them through the hard times that they are facing. The question is can Trump deliver ?.....what is sure is that Trump will be rooting out all the Republicans that have been against him....there will be many new faces in the West Wing and many lost cushy jobs for those that he doesn't trust.
The choice the American public were given in either a corrupt Clinton or a racist sexist egomaniac Trump was in essence not a real choice at all. The worst possible outcome was the one they voted for and I agree with Plym in one respect only. Somehow I think the masses believe this is a sort of fun. We vote the way we do not on any idiology but because we can and upset the established way of things. The fact it's like turkeys for christmas or the lemming factor doesn't seem to ring any alarm bells with them. Once done they then say they have exercised their right and everyone else who doesn't agree with them is just a sore loser. It will be all ok and so what is the problem. I would say they might have thought about what the problem could be before they had their fun. They do not seem to realise that if and when it goes tits up they cannot just change their minds mid stream. I was gobsmacked this morning at the outcome of this election. It was even more of a shock result than Brexit. At least Hilary had some experience of how things go whereas Trump has no experience at all. I haven't heard the man come out with any serious policy once in all the months it's been on our TV. Here is one example of stupid statement. We are going to build a wall to keep all the Mexicans out. Yea right of course you are. And people actually voted for this believing it will happen? The man is a complete buffoon. Not that we have anything much to brag about when you look at who our Foreign Secretary is. Any meeting between those two would be a hoot. Putin must be pissing himself laughing. This Planet is going mad and the lunatics have come out and are more than we thought but are ruling the World.
I hear Putin was first to congratulate him.. I suppose trump is the only one who likes Putin? As for our government that is a total shambles at the moment. Well will Trump come over and meet his son Boris? Two of a kind? Bet that other goon farage is happy..
I said a while back that Brexit brings a risk that the country becomes ungovernable. Neither Lords nor Commons support Brexit. The Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish don't support Brexit. It's quite conceivable that even if May is allowed to negotiate in secret and without Parliamentary approval, she'll end up with an "agreement" that satisfies neither The Remainers or the Village Idiots. If she calls a General Election, there'll be a sizeable proportion of Conservative voters who won't support her, including me. Labour voters will vote against May because she's a a Tory. If that gives the Head Goat Jeremy a surprise victory, we'll have a Labour Party in power who are Remainers, let by a leader who's a Brexiteer, elected by voters who are Leavers. As for Trump, book now for seats for WW3.
Lets hope she keeps her nerve and doesn't call an election until she has to otherwise I fear your prediction of the goat being prime minister could well come true. To be fair most of the rest of the world seem to be favouring far right bigots and racists so it would be no surprise if the good old UK bucked the trend and elected a totally ineffective scruffy old man with not an ounce of leadership ability-not there will be a UK by then.....
An interesting thing to come out of a trade deal negotiation recently which must make the exit voters proud. The one with India where they want to trade and one of the deal makers they want is.................wait for it.............more entry for it's citizens into the Country. I bet the exiteers are chuffed with that one then. They can replace the Eastern Europeans we get rid of.
Let them all in if they want to work and help the country move on.. the indians are good at tech and It issues, we speak with them a lot and they are good at what they do and cheap.. They are good at curries also,
India and other countries have already taken away hundreds of thousands of jobs from this country with such things as call centres.....have you ever tried sorting out a problem on the phone with someone whose english pronunciation is so poor to understand..... that you give up in the end because you get so frustrated trying to decipher what they are saying....they are generally highly educated and doing the job for a UK company for half the wages that would have been paid here. OK their will be skilled job applicants from abroad for positions that we cannot fill at present which would benefit this country....but people pouring in with no usable skills and nearly none existing english levels should stop.......we do have areas taken over such as Bradford and Blackburn where you have hugh ghettos of Asians that have made no effort to learn the language ....so are locked in a world that has no relationship with being part of the UK....do not interact or get involved in anyway with the country that they are now calling home....it causes problems and breeds anti UK actions.....in fact the Police are reluctant to get involved with child sex rings, female mutilation and under age forced marriage because of the back lash that can occur.....where they have got involved has been the tip of the iceberg......border controls are necessary and countries in the EU are starting to realize that as well.....free movement of people is an open door to so much crime and people trafficking.....slavery does still exist in this country locked away in none UK homes.....and has been uncovered in Nail shops throughout this country.
I have some experience of trying to bring people in from what was then non-EU Central Europe with tech skills that were in chronic short supply due to the players in the industry axing training and apprenticeship schemes over a period of years. BT, step forward and take a bow. This was during the Blair government mind you, when it's widely thought the doors were wide open. In fact, it was a Herculean task to get people in if not downright impossible. God knows what it will be like in the Dark Years following Brexit. Outsourcing of call centres is done by UK companies to save cost. It's not the fault of the people trying to provide the service at the other end and it has nothing to do with immigration. Unless you have something against foreigners generally .....
Not foreigners....just lost jobs notDistant......which is what has happened in the USA as well.....the empty wastelands that where thriving communities that are now looking more like the scenes we used to associate with the aftermath of WW2.....areas that have turned to desolate buildings with shrubs growing out of the decayed remains.....I was struck in one video of what must of been a 30ft tree grown on a flat factory roof.....and the local communities surviving on food queues....in the richest country in the world.....American Governments over the last... say 30 years have made it easy for someone to come along recognizing the dilemna and taking on the role of saviour.....so Donald Trump who was born into a rich family and continued to become a billionaire in his own right....becomes a working class white mans hero. 16 years ago a Simpsons cartoon episode featured Donald Trump as the American president as a joke.....the creator of the Simpsons Matt Groening said that Mr Trump was "the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time"....it's beyond satire what has happened. PS....it seems that evangelical christians in the States have overwhelmingly voted for Trump.....because Democrats are seen as supporters of abortion and the gay community.
It's the theory of comparative advantage Plymborn, one of the many benefits of free trade. If each country does what its best at, all countries benefit because goods and services are produced at minimum cost. So the Chinese have abundant cheap manual labour so they can produce the steel. America has high technological skills so it can design and produce the iPhones. South Korea builds the ships and the UK has moved on to financial services, pharmaceuticals, jet engines and space satellites. Of course, it helps that the Chinese don't give a hoot for the environment but that's a different story. Try to live in the past and we'll go back to no inside toilets and rickets as we had in the good old days of Empire.
I never mentioned jobs going abroad which is a totally different thing altogether. I'm talking about the free movement of citizens if you want to trade with certain countries. Exactly what the exit people kicked against with Europe. Ergo what the feck is the difference and what have we as a country gained? Like I said we are swapping one set of foreigners for another. But don't worry the rest of the world will trade with us is what was said. Well perhaps they will but maybe they won't unless we let them in. Typical Brit attitude. We are different to others and johnie foreigners will just have to do as we tell them.
FIFA are now saying that they have not banned poppies being worn by England v Scotland......wow....they could have fooled me by earlier comments.
I've got a bleddy headache. No not her indoors, she's gone out . I'm having "work done" which in this case entails the chimney being taken down and a new roof put on along with a couple of other bits to make it look pretty. At the moment there are two blokes on my roof with a sort of drill thing cutting ten bells out of the chimney bricks and all my walls are fibrating and things are falling down the chimney. It sounds like an earthquake. I keep expecting one of them to walk down my stairs with dust hanging off him........all this stress and I have to pay for the privilege. I think FIFA are back tracking because they did say at the start that it wasn't allowed with the poppy thing. I reckon they have had a bit of stick over it and are ducking out. Shouldn't have been so bleddy stupid in the first place so any grief they get it's their own fault. I can't get too excited over tonight's match. I will watch it but to be honest both teams have been rhubarb for a while now so not expecting anything wonderful. It's not like they can even kick each other off the park anymore to create a bit of interest is it.
Good news for once, not only am I off to the sponsors' lunch in a few weeks but I am also getting an away shirt signed by Bulvitus to add to the collection. Woop Woop.
