Given that there was a gross amount and a rebate and then a variable amount of money was spent in the UK it wasn't sensible to come up with a precise amount that the EU cost us.

Brexit Britain: What has actually happened so far?

Many economists prior to the referendum had been predicting an immediate and significant impact on the UK economy and consumer confidence should the country vote to leave the EU. But so far these predictions have not come to pass.

You can have multiple email addresses on a single phone so I'm not sure what Pete is on about.

You can also use a dual sim phone to run business and personal number for calls/sms .

I have personal and business email/ mobile number etc and don't carry two phones around.
Prior to dual sim phones I forwarded personal calls etc through to my business number.

I think the actions need to be taken in context. Americans do not trust authority or government in the same way we do, even the police are seen as a necessary but corrupt evil.

All this is old news. It just shows that many, myself included, misjudged the Lag effect of the Brexit fallout.

However, that doesn't mean it's not coming. The falling pound is increasing the import cost of raw materials, prices are rising. Maybe some of the effect has been absorbed my manufactures due to existing stocks being used up first.

The inevitable will happen. Prices will rise, wages and pensions will not keep up. The overall net spending power of the general public will be reduced, and the economy will slow.

The sunken pound is good only for exports and tourism. As the U.K. runs a large deficit, it's inevitable that the bad will outweigh the good.

I hope people have learned by now that they shouldn't make predictions!

The BBC article is actually the best I've seen for being balanced. Highlights the small margins in the figures and also that many of the effects of a lower pound are still feeding through.

What I've said, is not a prediction, as such. If the pound stays where it is, it's an inevitability.

    You numpty.
It's the only way to second guess the future, take action to mitigate the most harmful effects and take advantage of the beneficial ones.
Everything is a prediction, from going shopping on the basis you will need food later in the week, to leaving for an appointment at a time you think will not make you late.

I predict that Tubby will continue to be a bigoted ignoramus.

Anybody think that's an unsafe prediction?..

As were your previous, now amended, predictions. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Brexit doesn't exist in a bubble outside the rest of the global economy.

These protests in America are hilarious. So typical of that side of the political divide. An obvious failing in the education system is coverage of what 'democracy' means.

****ing hell. CNN are covering the 'riot' which seems to be about half a dozen clowns in cargo shorts, and dozens of people filming them on mobile phones.

Some in the media just can't get their head around where they got it wrong, and why they are actually a big part of the problem.

Quality, they're now saying it's Trump's fault, and him not stopping it shows he's failed. :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm
