But the same crap is being rattled on about nearly 5 months after Brexit. We have no control over US elections either.

Well, as Brexit hasn't actually happened yet, and will probably take many years to complete, it'll drag on for a long time yet!..

That's not your decision to make though Bod. It's the yanks election after all. I don't like the bloke, but I don't understand why people on here are getting so wound up about it, on a Brexit forum ffs.

Yes it will, and for a long time after that. The same people saying the same things. Pointless.

Whoever is US president will have a profound effect world wide Blue, especially in the UK, where we are so closely allied with them.
Ironically, in terms of Brexit, a Trump led US government will probably help us as far as agreeing a Trade Agreement.
Trump will almost certainly prioritise a deal with the UK, and has said as such, given his British heritage and his business interests in the UK.

It's not so much that Trump got voted in that irks me, I am more angry at the Republican and Democrat delegates for nominating these two ****tards as candidates.
I mean seriously, those were the best two people your parties could come up with? FFS! <doh>

I agree Bod, but we have no control over it. And yeah, out of all those people, they came up with those two. <doh>

Apart from Bernie Sanders, I would have to agree.
Now that I think about it, Trump probably WAS the best of the Republican candidates, shocking as it is that the US still see Republicans as a viable option when most of them are bible bashing gun nuts like Ted Cruz and Chris Christie, or evangelical crazy folk like Ben Carson.
Other than Trump, maybe Jeb Bush......seems smarter than his brother and dad to me.

The democrats needed to nominate Sanders, and they would have gotten the win. He was the one the people were crying out for. Totally anti-establishment and not answerable to the donors, which is what he and Trump have in common, and is ultimately why Trump won over Clinton.

People forget, the US right wing is not like ours.
In the UK, Hillary would almost definitely be considered Right wing, where as in the US she is a democrat, a left leaning party.
The US right wing are ****ing nuts. Pro Gun, Anti abortion, Evangelical, ******s.
Of all of them, Trump probably was the best, if I am honest with myself, and as much as I loathe the guy.
Not sure the Republicans could have picked someone better from their roster, which is saying something for them.

I share your views about this generally - it would be nice to have an actual debate about the various issues. The reason the US election is relevant though is that I think it arose from the same general issue. There are loads of people who feel that politicians don't take their views into account. Both 'Vote leave' and Trump were able to capitalise on that. It would be good to have a debate on what to do about that but it gets polarised because people can't help seeing it from a biased viewpoint based on their own views and objectives.

Yep. I can see why people mighty have different objectives even if they have the same strong understanding of the facts and that means they are not likely to agree on the correct way forward. But it's quite irksome when people attribute ulterior motives, or moronic behaviour to people with different views.
For example the fact that I'm quite happy with delegating some Laws upward to multi-national bodies because I think it is both necessary (to protect the world in the case of say environmentally damaging releases) and desirable (because having more participation is likely to lead to a better debate and solution).

Brexit and now Trump does appear to have given some free reign to release their true inner-self...
History if anything is cyclical, we humans, if nothing else are quite stupid and will make the same mistakes again and again..
However, someones mistake is another persons ethnic cleansing..

So would I be, if I thought that those Multi National bodies had the the UK's best interests at heart.
They don't. They are responsible for the whole of the EU, so if something hurts the UK, but helps everyone else they have to go for it.
Me, being from the UK, do not give a solitary **** about what helps France, Germany or anyone else.
I do not live in those countries, I do not pay their governments, and I should not have a say in legislation that will effect those countries and vice versa.

See, this is the sort of thing that makes me laugh and shake my head at the same time.
Katie Hopkins is a troll. She writes click-bait articles based upon clearly ridiculous **** taken to the logical extreme.
She relies on people getting upset and linking to her ****, so it gets a ton of views.

That anyone would read her intentionally ludicrous stuff and relate to it it pretty funny.
You're equating yourself with somebody who intentionally writes dumb ****.
    I'll give you an example:

Does she mean that? Of course not. It's posted to get a reaction.

Most of the media are the semi-litterate morons writing for the totally illiterate morons to tell them 'left bad right good' Most normal people can see through it but it appears that there not as many normal people as there are morons.
