Too small. We seem to have the very mindset that if it's right for everyone else then it's right for us.

No pioneering ideas, no plan to do something different to other cities.

The Venue is too small to make any difference to the sort of acts which would come to Hull. Unfortunately any idea that Hull could support venues the size of those in cities like Leeds, Sheffield or elsewhere is a pipe-dream.
The money could be better spent elsewhere.

You said it's too small so it'll only attract certain acts such as those on the list you shared as a comparison. Then you said you don't like those acts but you're sure others will. As you seem confident it'll attract demand for the acts that play there, I'm not sure what the problem is.

So don't build one at all even though it will be well attended?

I agree it's too small, but wouldn't want something the size of Leeds or Sheffield. 5,000-8,000 would be different enough size wise to other gig venues. People travel up and down the country to see gigs. Hull would be no different. But don't FFS just do EXACTLY what other cities have done.

We used to be called the pioneering City - let's put our money where our mouth is.

It won't attract bigger acts than can play elsewhere in Hull, There is no way they will make it pay. It has a smaller capacity than .Brid Spa, a venue in a town of 36,000.

Where else in Hull do acts similar to those in GLP's list play?

Others may like those acts. Are they sell out acts and headline news? The answer you are looking for is 'No'.

Will the arena size attract the circuit of academy acts to Hull when same sized venues are in other Yorkshire cities? I'm not sure. If we had a bigger venue, would that push us up the food chain? Probably.

Yes. And don't forget Manchester. All 3 of those are places to go for Christmas Markets in and around .Hull according to the HDM.

The paving looks really good when it's fresh down like that. Just a shame you can never make it stay that way.
