    Agreed.
Would Will 'son of Jack' Straw really turn down a CBE for his work for the (failed) Remain campaign?

    Would he ****.

Yes folks the old boys network is still flourishing and no more vigorously than in the ranks of the Labour Party.

Anyone heard owt about the reasons for the latest suspension of Stephen Bayes from the Labour Party? It must be bad they're keeping schtumm. And he was the COC (titter) portfolio holder too....

Also, Trump's said nasty **** about Muslims but Clinton is complicit in the deaths of thousands of Muslims. I'd abstain to vote anyway if I were American but American Muslims or Middle-Eastern Americans have the best reason to abstain.

I'm talking about what conservatism means to someone who has watched British politics happening in real time, since the 1970s, rather than a Wiki or textbook definition.

We're talking about ****ing Tories and their ****ing Tory ways. The ones we've watched ****ing people in the arse for the last few decades.

Spook, why do you find it so hard to believe he's actually a racist misogynist **** and that it's just an act?

There are people out there who are racists and misogynists. Hard to believe, I know.

It's not my problem if people can't be bothered to even attempt to understand politics or economics. Even the Tories have factions like the traditional conservatives, the laissez-faire Thatcherites and the one-national liberal Tories, so yes, there are different strands of conservatism.

As well as seeing the finer detail, it sometimes helps if you can understand why broader brush strokes are used :)

Now who's head is spinning? Listen, Polly, I don't have a problem with you but a lot of your posts are oversimplifying things. Real change won't come from parliaments or presidents, it will only come when the majority question the economic and political systems we live under. As a leftist it depresses me because I'll be waiting a long time. Liberals have been saying for decades that 'real change' will happen if only we keep the nasty conservatives out of government and every time it happens, nothing significant changes. We had 13 years of New Labour's piecemeal reforms after decades of Tory government but there was no effort to make significant change; democratic socialism died in the 1970s. In America, it's the same. American liberals are saying stuff like 'even though Clinton isn't perfect, we need to keep Trump out to get real change' and it was the same stuff they were saying 16 years ago when Gore was running against Bush. Leftists and left-leaning people need to realise significant change won't come from government, only the people can do that through revolution or insurrection.

He's certainly researched how to be a politician then.
