I weight 8 stone ish....the same as I did in my twenties....it's just that the ish is considerably bigger these days.
Someone said earlier in the thread, and I am agreeing with them, Snodgrass is a really good player although he probably won't ever play for a top 8 team. Mid-table is what suits him I think.
Played 11, Won 3, Drawn 4, Lost 4. Scored 12, Conceded 12. Yep, that's about right. Still more average than good as a team. We are royally screwed if Austin gets injured.
Love how people ignore the cups to get this sort of stat. It's not all about the League, as Claude keeps stressing. We're fighting on THREE fronts. So, let's try that again. Played 17 Won 7 Drawn 5 Lost 5. Scored 20, Conceded 14. Looks a little better, doesnt it.
Ok - I was away at the weekend, so, apart from a brief moment yesterday when I looked at my phone, saw we were 1-0 up and said to my daughter "I hope Snodgrass isn't playing", I knew nothing about the final score till I reconnected this morning. I haven't watched the game - I'll see MOTD2 later today - but as soon as I saw the final score I knew what would be going on here (and, even worse, the Saints fan page on FB). "The team aren't good enough", "it's all Maya's fault", "Sack the board", "Bring in the Chinese mega-million"........ FFS people - as some on here are trying to say, it's football, it's Saints and we just played a very tough game in Europe. We'll do very well to get points from the next 2 games and get something at Arsenal, but I have faith in Claude and the team. It looks to me as if Hull were more up for it than we were, we took our foot of the gas a bit and got punished. That happens, but Claude will have learnt a lot from this and, hopefully, we can move on and put this behind us. Why should we sell Virgil? He's on a long contract, he's worth double what Citeh paid for Stones and we can hang on to him. We DO need to expand the squad, but we cannot get players like Aguero here without bankrupting the club. As someone said - "what do you want? Success in Europe or in the EPL?" I never expected Saints to finish higher than mid table this year - so I'm relaxed. We'll have bumps along the way, but we're SAINTS and we'll march on. Stop moaning and get behind the club - or go and support Manure, Coventry or that lot East of us ......
Yes it does. But the league is a barometer for how we are performing. The same teams as last year, are we keeping up?
Yeah, because the Cups right now are a biased sample. We have played Sparta Prague, but not Roma or Man U.
But all those things aren't going on here? There is a smattering of comments about needing a new striker, and some complaint that we were complacent after we scored. Both are accepted by the majority of fans who watched the game. People are complaining because we should have won if we had attacked with any intensity rather than attempting to sideways pass them to death we would have scored more. When we went behind we showed we could do it. Why was our play so pedestrian when Hull let us have so much ball first half? So the complaint was never that the "team isn't good enough" but rather that the team is better than that performance and let's discuss why that happened.
The "sort of stat" which shows the club's league form? When I'm looking to show a stat showing our league form, I tend to use a stat that shows our league form. It's the best way to show our league form, as a stat. Yes, it is all about the League. That's the competition the manager only plays his strongest team in.
There might be an exception later in the season. If we are in upper mid table towards the end of the season and there is the small matter of a EL semi-final then I think the manager would want to play his strongest team in that particular series of matches.
Well, maybe... but the point is about league form and the priority right now. We will all be enslaved by the Trump Overlord by later in the season, anyway.
