BTW, we are now on trend for 90 points. 28% of the season is gone. Its the best we've done since 08/09 but our GD is better than then. (we've scored nearly double what that team scored)
nearly yes but the GD is still 6 better off then then. +14 now (second best in the league this year BTW) v +8 then so... really... we need to improve and can improve.. Matip was excellent today. he played two CF's on his own at times. He won every header nearly.
he had to do two jobs plus had two forwards up agasint him and he still competed with both. he wasn't actually beaten to anything. lucas mainly only had to pass it about cos they rarely actually got past matip in the air and our midfield usually shut them down.
Agree with MITO and Gez - Matip looked suspect at times but he was single handedly carrying that defence. Hope we sign a partner for him sooner rather than later.
Thought Lucas was good? Played some excellent passes from the back to send us on the attack and was solid enough defensivley. With Klavan also as cover I don't see the need to improve in this position.
I'm seeing lots of comparisons between this season and 2013-14, particularly the goalscoring exploits. Most are (rightly) pointing out that we've scored more this season than at the sane stage back then. However, not one as recognised that Suarez was missing for the first five league games that season. We won 1-0 three times (from memory) in that time!
correct. i was comparing to 08/09 as thats our last real good team. in 2013/14 we somehow got a team with quite a few dodgy lads to 2nd on the basis of winning 11 in a row and SAS.
After England plays Spain in a friendly on November 15, there is no International football until March 2017.
