Because right now, we have eight players (Long, Austin, Redmond, Davis, JWP, Boufal, Tadic, Rodriguez) for three positions. I am excluding Clasie for now, but arguably he could be included. And as of right now, none of the eight players are good enough. It's quite possible some of these players will step up and seize control of a spot. But if they do, that just makes the remaining players for that spot that much more expendable. Eight players for three positions is a lot, if we don't make Europa. And really, it's more than eight players as I think most of us would agree we want to see some academy players move up. Stop hoarding players.
I'm obviously very happy with that, but I thought we were pretty crap still for the most part and you bossed it. However, I was surprised you didn't go for our throats more after taking the lead, like Bournemouth did to us recently, it seemed to take us going 2-1 up for you to really push for a second. Thankfully for us Marshall was inspired towards the end.
"as of right now, none of the eight players are good enough" I have read this and then read the previous page for context.. I couldn't find any so I'll assume I take it at face value... I'm gobsmacked that you're saying all 8 of those aren't good enough. Wow. I must have suddenly lost all understanding of football. Definitely time for me to sign out for the night. Enjoy.
My last one on his thread: Leicester lost at home to WBA who were 4th from bottom earlier. Funny old game.
I think you just got your two goals so quickly we never had time to respond to the 1-1. The first one, I felt like we were just asleep and it should never have happened. The second one was quite a nice ball in from Snodgrass, and a smart finish on the header as well. The defense should have done better, but that's sort of the case in any goal you give up. It was not good.... but it was somewhat understandable. But those two goals in quick succession just killed us. At that point, you could play behind the ball and defend and of course your spirits were up so even though we did kick it up a notch, it was to no avail. If that second goal doesn't go in, I think the odds were good we would have gotten a second and won 2-1. But credit where it is due. You didn't get many chances, but boy did you seize the ones you were given. IMO, we dominated the game but I still can't say your three points were undeserved.
So you are saying that the combination we have at attacking-ish MC, AMC, and striker are providing enough goals? I mean, is it possible our Pelle-less team could have a flaw at all?
Was talking to a Hull supporter on the way back to the car and had to admit that results like this happen. Too often as a Saints supporter. 48 years of supporting Saints is character building. That is why my nickname at work was MOG....Miserable Old G**.
It was always the case of "After the Lord Mayor's Show." Fingers crossed, Barca may join the Saints in the losers corner this weekend as they are trailing Sevilla 1-0 at the time of writing. Vamos Sevilla!!
The amount of goals or should I say lack of goals isn't a luck thing anymore. Luck is when it happens now and again, we are past that. I am not calling for half the team to be sold. I am saying we need a striker (or two)badly, and a cm to link up attack and defence (*cough* some one like Morgan*cough*). Having Davis and Clasie in the midfield doesn't work ss they offer nothing or very little going forward.
Felt worse when Rochdale beat us. Felt worse when Brighton beat us. Felt worse when Bristol bloody city beat us. Man today was a bag of frustration, but definitely not as damaging as those badboys.
Could we do with Fabregas on loan if we are still in the EL and cup competitions to add more creativity in the New Year? Chelsea could pay 75% of his wages as well!!
PL has sorted itself out between the Top 7 and the rest for this season. Anybody from Watford down could be relegated!!
Never mind a game of two half's, this was a game of one and a half halfs vs a half a half... In our half half we suddenly woke up... When the sun went down and it got cold the Saints players went bye-byes...
