I didn't see it, but from what you guys are saying we look really sharp when we have a 1st XI out! Carroll is seemingly looking every bit the £35m man and he and downing have already struck a good partnership. All I can say is, this season looks really promising! YNWA, bring on next week =D
The concerns last week were over the number of goals shipped when we don't have our best back line out. To identify an area of relative weakness and want to strengthen it isn't a panic reaction and shouldn't be made out to be one. Our full strength team looks pretty good to me and I'm looking forward to this season more than any for a while, but I don't want us to screw it up by not having sufficient strength in depth in that area. Having said that, us talking about it is all wind because we're not the ones making the decisions- I'm confident that those who do make them are on top of the situation.
Sorry, not having it. It was a kneejerk overreaction to a small number of warmup games. Panic. There were attempts to make the point that it wasn't our best back four out but it was rejected in the Panic Room. I call it like I see it and I saw a panic reaction in some quarters. Judging Mata based on yesterday is also just as silly.
