I beg to differ. Should have got N'Koudou on at some point though. second half Arsenal looked flat and our boys up front were tired and out of ideas. Some pace could have made a real difference.
I hope Poch says Kane, Walker and Rose are not fit enough to play England so that they can get two weeks rest and/or training
I'm still not sensing full positivity on this thread... It took an own goal for Arsenal to draw with us, at their place.
Mustafi couldn't handle Son running at him and N'Koudou's much quicker. I think he'd have terrified him, if he'd have made a couple of bursts with the ball.
Proud of all the lads today, Rose man of the match closely followed by Dembele, Hugo, Vertong, Walker, Wanyama to name but a few.
Well if Ian Wright said so it must be true... I'm sure you always use his opinion as a benchmark for decisions The offside is debatable based on whether the offside player is actually interfering with play. I thought the penalty was debatable as well as the player seems to be going down before any contact is made. Either way it was a scrappy game without any real cutting edge from either team. Both teams hit the post, most areas of the pitch nullified each other. Some exciting moments but overall probably a draw was a fair result.
I agree. Thought son did well today, despite initially thinking he wouldn't have got a look in. That's why would have like GKN to have come on though. The pace could have caused more problems that they wouldn't have been able to deal with.
It was absolutely stonewall! Dembele's going past him and he just sticks his foot out. Really stupid decision. https://my.mixtape.moe/hnrxlk.mp4
I said before the game that a draw was the worst possible result but that type of performance makes it worth it. Good chances for both sides to win it but I think our superiority in winning back possession meant that we shaded the game overall. I'm completely with Inda on this one. We just played away at one of the best teams in the league with 3 of our best players injured and another clearly not match fit. And we fully earned the draw. I'm immensely proud of the display today and it will lift the spirits going into the break. Also, this back 3 idea is worth another look. Chelsea are currently using it to devastating effect and I think it also allows us to play Dier and Wanyama at the same time. The extra width could also come in handy getting round the back of bus parking sides. Still unbeaten. COYS
In the slow motion it looks to me like he is turning away and going down before the contact comes in, though I can understand it being a penalty.
He dips a bit with his run because of Monreal's challenge, but that's how Dembele moves with the ball. He seems to have an unusually low centre of gravity, which makes him very hard to tackle.
It's good to have this kind of mutual objective cross-club understanding. In the same vein, I can understand how pissed off you probably are at how **** your team was today.
Your whole midfield seems very hard to tackle! Big physical players and a defensive formation meant we could never really get any fluidity with the ball, but it also meant your lot didn't have the fluidity as you lacked creative players. The choice to go with that system and those type of players nullified most of the game and caused it to turn rather scrappy with far more long balls than you'd normally expect to see from both teams. Whether this was by choice or because of your injuries I don't know, but it made it very difficult for either team to impose themselves in an attacking sense.
Our creative players have been crap recently, but I think that Pochettino was forced into the change. It's not that much of a difference for us though, as our holding player normally drops deep when our fullbacks attack. I think that's why it seemed fairly natural for us, but caused Everton so many problems.
