Very strange, I wouldn't bet my house on it but... I feel sure I remember seeing Wood with a couple of assists on match reports yet the link doesn't credit him with any..
With 11 goals and counting, Wood has been a snip at 3m. Suspect hed be worth three times that shortly. A lot of credit has to go to the coaching staff that have helped clearly
I don't want to put a dampener on things but I'm starting to not look forward to the next transfer window. I just hope we can hang on to the important players and that Monk remains on board
I don't think anyone shall be on the move, Monk has started something at LS11 and wants to see where it, or what it can achieve, the players look to be a unit on the move especially the Swedish Terminator leading by example, interesting next few weeks are in front of us, lets see what happens.
For someone that doesn't want to put a damper on things, you've just done a fine job of it Ristac in fact, glory would have been proud of that one
Actually looking forward to the Jan transfer window because hopefully we'll get cover in for Wood. At the moment if he gets injured there's no one else who can play the lone striker role and we'd be ****ed without him Hope he stays injury free for the next couple of months at least
Expect January window will be busier than usual for many clubs with that stupid emergency system no longer available to do patch up jobs
Think our next match will define how our season will go. Emphatic win, & we're looking at top 2. Emphatic defeat, & 6th might be the best we can hope for. I think we might get a draw and end up in the playoffs. Either way, this season represents progress. Let's hope Cellino sorts out contracts/extensions for Monk, Wood, Jannsson, Hernandez, Roofe and Sackho .
Be interesting to see Taylor's reaction to the growing optimism, he must be mates with Phillips etc. He must see young players get a chance to play 1st team football at Leeds. He must also notice what has happened to Cook at Bournemouth. Wonder if he is thinking a new contract isn't such a bad idea or is the bad blood between the agent and Cellino means he'd never sign for us.
Not sure I agree with that. Newcastle with the squad and money they've had from the start will walk the division. I more confident we can get something from them at home, our team really does seem to have some fighting spirit. The rest of league are much of a muchness tbh.
On a serious note (and so no one is in doubt, I base it on limited opportunities I get to see them and opinions on here of those that do) byram would now do well to get ahead of Ayling and Berardi at right back let alone sackho on the wing.
I agree, good business will be securing what we have and anyone who joins who can improve on that will be a bonus. A very tricky one as a few weeks ago I would have been happy to see Hernandez or Sacko replaced with better now they seem on fire. Dallas and Bridcutt might find it as hard as Berardi getting back into the starting 11. Wood is a confidence player, he needs to play, finding back up for him could prove very tricky and with Roofe and Antonsson do we need someone else who will be stuck on the bench? There is a team spirit at the moment so we need to be very cautious over anyone who comes in.
It's always a difficult and sometimes unsettling time to strengthen in January. I remember being in Newcastle the day they signed Batty as well as Asprilla and saying they would surely win the league. Also look at Leicester last year...didn't add much and just kept on rolling. However I'd still prefer 2 quality signings as we're not good enough yet, but getting there.
You're right of course, it could go wrong, tightnit team spirit upset by new players. But how many have said that if we'd added one or two in the January of the year we came up from league 1 we might have been looking at back to back promotions. That's the balance I guess, good team spirit against competition for places but we will get injuries, suspensions etc so for me additional quality is needed.
