Agreed. As mentioned earlier we have been waiting on Big Vic's fitness. Hope Short see's the sense in investing in a big CF. Big Vic will improve us as I've always said but we could do with getting better through the door. Vic will be inconsistent as he's always has been.
A break is a benefit so we can work on our midfield. Confidence-sapped, concrete boots at times today. Moyes must be able to get a much better combo from..... Catts, Kirchy, Ndong, Watmore, Khazri, Gooch, Piennar, McNair, Rodders, Seb
Anichebe was totally gone at the end of the game. I hope to hell he hasn't got a cracked rib like he mentioned at the end of the game. The big man was awesome today and he and Defoe will cause a lot of problems for some defences this season. But yep, a 2 week break is a big plus for us, and especially so for the big man!
Think we need to be careful and not get carried away. We were lucky today with some of the chances Bournemouth had, against a team with more quality we'd have had 4/5 put past us. Some of the play going forward was good and Vic & Defoe worked very well. Positives for sure, but the game against Hull won't be easy as we'll be expected to take the game to them.
Think I read that he "thought" he had a cracked rib but dunno if it's correct. It'd be typical of us to have an unfancied player put in an amazing performance then be out for months. I was watching him when he went to ground and he wasn't clutching his chest so I don't reckon he had a break. I broke my little finger in a 5-a-side game and although I tried to carry on, when I caught it on something there was no disguising the pain.
Aye the main positives for me were the two upfront and a general feeling that there is a plan and it might work, and the legend that is Pickford. Midfield and defence are still very frail and that is a huge problem for Moyes.
We may hear something tomorrow. Hopefully just heavy bruising. The way he got physical in the last 5 minutes, holding the ball up and holding defenders off, didn't look like a bloke with a cracked rib.
Waiting to see my Dad to hear what he has to say. He has been very vocal about him (and Moyes) but wonder what he has to say about that. Anichebe sounds like he was Immense today. Will watch motd after I get in from my afternoon gig tomorrow in cramlingon
Although only 1 game JD and Vic have to be given a chance. Based on that we will be playing with one midfielder less. Going to be some disappointed players cos we have Borini, januzai, Watmore, Khazri, Catts, Kirchoff, N'Dong plus a few others fighting for 3/4 places.
I'm still not sure what the exact formation/shape of the team was. We had McNair on the left wing at one point then he was in the middle the next minute. We were also leaving the defence quite exposed in the first half and (with all due respect to Bournemouth) had it been a team with more quality we'd have been punished. That said, I'll ****ing take the 3 points.
That's true. I'd go for Kirchhoff and Ndong in the middle and whoever is in the best form on the wings, Khazri and Borini being the best on paper. If we somehow grow a brain and sign M'Vila I'd play him and Ndong. Watmore doesn't deserve dropping he's been very good but if he wants that first team place he'll earn it. A hungry, competitive and ambitious squad would be a delight.
Well done you ****ing beauties! Thought you were going to lose and after 15-20 mins I thought you were going to lose heavily but you stuck at it and deserved the win i reckon. Will watch it on motd in the morning but my initial impression was that the ref got all the big calls correct (offside, red card, penalty) and if so fair play to him. Got to stick with Anichebe and Defoe combination for the next few games, it gave you so many more options and was a rare time you had the opposition worrying about what you were going to do rather than just playing their natural game confident it would be good enough to beat you.
BBC had it between Anichebe and Watmore for motm. Watmore covered 11.17km and made 86 sprints. Almost a sprint every minute. Workhorse!
He did he's been great, I'm talking about a hypothetical future where the likes of Januzaj, Khazri and Borini are playing out of their skins and giving the manager a headache.
