A ''comfy tourer'' it ain't - it's an 175bhp & 100+ ft lbs of torque ridden ballistic missile. Lots of electronic riding aids which some divvy ****ers like turning OFF
You can get some real serious off roading machines which look more like quads, saw them at a show once. Pricey but well worth every penny if you're limited mobility and in to that sort of thing. I've got a 50cc 2 stroke block im going to stick in an old wheelchair ive got hold of, just for a laugh. I think and hope it's going to be a wheelie machine.
Many happy hours sat tweaking the old 2 strokes with the garage door shut & engine running to get the full effect of Castrol R .......although to be fair it's bloody awful for the engines......these days my RD350LC rarely needs the inside of the cylinders cleaning with modern synthetic oils.....used to be every 500 miles when I ran them on R
When you are 6'3" tall with a knackered back it's much comfier than the R1 for going any distance......but it's still a ballistic missile like you say......I'm not ready for a Goldwing yet !!
I prefer the upright bars on mine for any distance, I have an old Gixer 750 for the odd track day or Wednesday night blast - it's comfy enough but, I wouldn't like to tour on it anymore. I have bike envy of your KTM though ...... keep it shiny side up eh
Recently bought a Nextbase dash cam for the bike, pretty good quality and automatically overwrites old recordings so you don't have to keep deleting. It also protects footage in a accident, worthwhile investment especially for those who commute. And I have to admit, one of the reasons I got the bike was because it was a 'Tiger' (not a Hull City Tiger)
If you have mates who ride scooters just check in with them as 4 riders have been involved in an accident on the A63 this afternoon.
Just traded my old sport/tourer for an ''upright Gixxer'' ......... that'll be me itching for the good weather
Was thinking of doing exactly the same thing but gonna wait until next March. Love the GSX-S1000F but not sure about the mirrors on the handlebars.
I had an extended test ride on the 1000F last year while George Petchs' were servicing mine, the test machine had less than a dozen miles on the clock and brand new rubber, within 5 miles I felt as though I'd been riding it for months. Once I got on the power the induction roar and the exhaust note from the stock pipe were just ****in' intoxicating ....... I was hooked. Edited to add ..... believe it or not the mirrors work brilliantly, even better than those on my 1250.
