Its actually more like us getting 66,000. I don't think there's a better supported team based on population than Burnley, even Sunderland would have to average 45,000 to match them. Not quite as good as the Green Bay Packers though, population - 105,000, average attendance 80,000.

Yeah I saw a documentary once and parents were signing up new born babies for Green Bay season tickets, knowing they wouldn't get them until they were in their 30's or 40's, absolutely mental! Didn't know that about Lens FC, thats seriously impressive, that has to be the best ratio of population to attendance in the world.
Though it's true that Lens itself has a small population, the immediate area around it has a population of about 1.5m, so it's not all that impressive.
It's like saying the population served by Hull City is 5 000 because that's how many live in Newington ward.
To be fair in the NFL you only play at home 8 times a year, even the busiest person can manage that. Green Bays a bit of an exception as well, its the only fan owned, non-profit club in the NFL, so its seen as a community thing not just sport.
