Its actually more like us getting 66,000. I don't think there's a better supported team based on population than Burnley, even Sunderland would have to average 45,000 to match them. Not quite as good as the Green Bay Packers though, population - 105,000, average attendance 80,000.
My dad's a Chelsea fan, tried to get me to support them, got pics of me as a 3, 4,5 year old with Chelsea hat and scarf on, weekends like this I wonder if I made a bad footballing decision somewhere down the line.
You're not the only one! My Dad is also a Chelsea fan but I ended up supporting City after going to a game with a friend of mine.
Chelsea now top, they've really got their arse in gear, in the last five games they've scored 16 without conceding.
If you put your name down for a Green Bay Packers season pass you will be waiting decades to get one such is the waiting list. Though people shouldn't approve as their crowdscare due to their equivalent of people from the East Riding in and using the facilities. Clemson has a population of 14,000 but the Clemson Tigers university team averages around 80,000. If we were getting the same percentage as Middlesbrough we would be getting about 45,000. In football can't see see anyone beating Lens FC. Population 2,000 less than Brid, 34,000, with a stadium with a 41,000 capacity now and which once had just under 49,000 in it.
Yeah I saw a documentary once and parents were signing up new born babies for Green Bay season tickets, knowing they wouldn't get them until they were in their 30's or 40's, absolutely mental! Didn't know that about Lens FC, thats seriously impressive, that has to be the best ratio of population to attendance in the world.
Though it's true that Lens itself has a small population, the immediate area around it has a population of about 1.5m, so it's not all that impressive.
It's like saying the population served by Hull City is 5 000 because that's how many live in Newington ward.
To be fair in the NFL you only play at home 8 times a year, even the busiest person can manage that. Green Bays a bit of an exception as well, its the only fan owned, non-profit club in the NFL, so its seen as a community thing not just sport.
