If it's true the Mayflower really sailed from Southampton someone should try changing the Wikipedia page for the ship. Somehow I don't think it would be long before the page was put back to the ship sailing from Plymouth.

    I've never been to Southampton.

I don't know anyone who has been to Southampton.

I've never heard anyone say "I'm off for a weekend in Southampton".

I don't know any distinguishing feautures or landmarks in Southampton.

Until I read this thread I couldn't tell you anything about the city of Southampton.

    Is Southampton even a city?

I'm not saying Southampton is ****, nobody even cares enough to slag it off.

    The Mayflower sailed from Southampton

IT IS seven years until Plymouth celebrates the supposed sailing of the Mayflower and the Pilgrim Fathers from Plymouth. Why is this?

It is an historical fact that the Mayflower, with the Pilgrim Fathers on board sailed from Southampton in August 1620, not Plymouth. It appears that because the Mayflower was forced to put into Plymouth for urgent repairs and was unable to leave until September 16, 1620, that Plymouth feels that she sailed from here.

We suppose that technically, after the repairs had been completed, the Mayflower did once again put to sea, but in no way can it be denied that she did, without any argument, start her voyage from Southampton. This has been confirmed during quizzes on BBC TV.

Southampton played a major role in the success of fish fingers. Clarence Birdseye tested herring sticks and cod sticks on shoppers in Southampton and South Wales. The Southampton customers loved the cod sticks, which then became known as fish fingers and rolled out across the country.

My Grand kids have come up with us for the match. For them, the delights of Newland Ave today, for me Nash.

I like Southampton, but Hull will always be my home.

If your good enough your old enough lets see if tymons good enough
Clucas for me has been very weak defending lately numerous games letting people by him leading to goals time for a timeout

Risk mbokani its a home game we need points, only player ive not liked including is elmo see the reason clucas is dropped we are far to weak defending our flanks, a defensivley strong rb is a must in january step forward fosu mensah on loan pay the ****ing loan fee allams

Southamptons Ikea is in the city centre. Its on the main drag to the busiest cruise terminals, the IOW ferry and St Marys stadium. It is a bastard to get out of

Only been once. Never again. Couldn't even find me car at first then sat in a queue forever trying to get past some stupid roundabouts.

2 years ago but it's still raw.

My mother received a medal for her work on an ack ack battery defending the Spitfire factory. Never knew until I came across it and her invitation to Buckingham Palace in a tin in a drawer when I was about 14.
