QPR have never won at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

In 32 previous attempts the R’s have never returned to west London with a victory to show for their efforts.

33rd time lucky? It is a stat that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side will be keen to finally put to rest when they head to the Midlands this weekend that is for sure.

Following a good opening month Nottingham Forest found themselves sitting in seventh spot in the Sky Bet Championship, just outside the play-off spots.

However, since that 3-1 victory against Leeds United at the end of August the Trees have won just once in their following 11 outings. That has seen them drop to 20th in the table after a third of the season has gone.

A takeover at the City Ground looks imminent with owner Fawaz Al Hasawi set to sell the club to a US consortium with Forest fans hoping that can signal a return to the top flight in the coming years for the first time since they were relegated in 1999.

JFH ... We Need To Show Guts

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes this weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest is all about character …

    • Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says this weekend is a test of QPR's character
    • QPR take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground
    • Lynch and Ngbakoto could return for the R's
JIMMY Floyd Hasselbaink says QPR need to show some “guts” this weekend when they take on Nottingham Forest.

The R’s will be keen to get back on track following last Friday’s disappointing defeat against Brentford, and Hasselbaink told www.qpr.co.uk: “That loss was a really big disappointment for everybody.

“We never got to the level we really wanted to, that is the biggest disappointment of all.

“Now it is all about trying to put that right and being really positive, even though we are away from home.

“We want to be positive and get some self-satisfaction back. This is about showing our character and our commitment.

“We need to get back to our beliefs and our way.”

The QPR boss admits the players have been hurting since the derby loss, but he takes positives from that reaction.

“That’s good,” he explained. “It is good that they are being honest and we are being honest with them.

“In situations like this you have to be able to look each other in the eye, talk to each other and tell each other what we need from one another.

“We need solutions. This isn’t about pointing fingers, it’s about finding solutions so we can move forward.

“That starts with taking responsibility and having some guts.”

QPR’s record at the City Ground is well-documented – the R’s haven’t won there in 32 attempts – but Hasselbaink insists he has no interest in focusing on what’s been before.

“I am aware of the record but it’s not something I am thinking of,” he said.

“This is a new game that we can affect. We can’t affect the games that have been. This is the one we can affect and that is what we are trying to do.”

Hasselbaink confirmed Joel Lynch and Yeni Ngbakoto could return for the R’s, while Jack Robinson is also expected to feature after successfully coming through an hour of action against Brentford.

Meanwhile, Hasselbaink will make a late call on striker Idrissa Sylla, who picked up a knock against the Bees.

“He soldiered on but hasn’t been able to train this week,” Hasselbaink explained. “He trained by himself on Thursday and is back with the group today (Friday).”

Self satisfaction? Methinks some dodgy Dutch - English translation in Jimmy's head there.

Mind you, we seem to have a surfeit of ****ers at the club, perhaps he got it right.

Sounds a little desperate, the manager telling the team to "have some guts" - Not that they're not needed. I'm sure Warnock would have said the same thing - the contrast is that NW have had the team organised in a way that by having guts, it would have made a difference

Thanks Nines! Do you think he'll play 2 wingers and 2 strikers?! That midfield looks like it will be swamped. The bookies favourite to score first is called Britt - I wonder if she''s planning to score with Ned or with Caulker, or maybe she prefers fish.

I don't think he will go with that line-up Ossie. It'll probably look more like this ...

You are probably about right there. Just hope it's Pawel instead of Gladwin!

Me too. He's looked good every time I've seen him - got in a lot of very good crosses.

Here we go then, it's matchday and as a hardy 1,000 or so souls head up to the City Ground hoping to witness history being made. Forest v QPR is officially the worst away run in English football dating back 82 years to the first match between the two clubs on 13th January 1934

QPR's full record at the City ground is: Played 32 Won 0 Drew 13 Lost 19 For 18 Against 61.

Can we get this zoo off our back or will JFH yet again show zero ambition and be happy to come away with just a point? With just one win since August Forest have taken just six points out of a possible thirty. Come on Jimmy! Show us what you're made of, there's no better time to play them?

Rich, did you see that Brentford produced no shots on target v Fulham after we allowed them to play like Braca?!
Cue a Forest resurgence against good old QPR. The team that loves to oblige!!!

Really? I was out last night so I didn't see the game but no shots on target at home is shocking. The way we allowed them to play at our house was also shocking and unacceptable against a local rival against whom we were defending a 52 year old record.

Saw the stats from the first half and Brentford hadn't an attempt on goal let alone anything on target, Fulham by comparison had 10 attempts on goal and something like 4 on target.......

Wouldn't be surprised if we ended up being charitable again today but just have that niggle in the back of my mind that this is the year to finally win at Forest..........still prepared for disappointment at 4:50 this afternoon.....

Just caught a very quick headline the following morning so not verified. Agree with rest of your comments. Careful with the old 52 yr thing since we weren't in the same division for about 30 of them!!
