First round kicks off tonight with Eastleigh vs Swindon live now on BBC 2.

Keep your eye on Yaser Kasim for Swindon, he's a talent and should be playing a bit higher up the pyramid.

Without wishing to derail the thread, I just wanted to mention that Aluko is currently tearing Brentford a new one. I wasn't too fussed when we released him because I assumed we'd have a perfectly normal transfer window, which we didn't, and with the benefit of hindsight, maybe we should have kept him!

Was thinking the same thing, he's looked good for them, their gain is our loss. I thought he looked fine in the PL, he was never a goalscorer, but boy could he play football.

People are thinking of Aluko with starry eyes?

    Frigging hell.

Always Falls Over Aluko? That one?

His sister would be a better PL player than he ever was. I'm not putting her down either, she really is a lot better than him.

Ran around a lot, **** all end product.

    He's fine where he is.

And yet Meyler is still here. No justice.

He never looked quite right after injuring his achilles half way through the 12/13 season, but he rarely got a good run of games after that and now he's finally getting them at Fulham he's starting to look like the player he was again.

Aluko was red hot tonight apart from his end product so nothing new there.
Cairney was excellent too but Sone shaded it for me.
That keeper we was linked with Bentley had a good game for Brentford and made some important saves.

aluko wouldn't make a difference to our team now, the man to make a difference to our team is mbokani

remember when we played away to man city in 2013.. i remember commenting on here, i felt like crying because of how well we were playing
aluko got to a 1 v 1 and completely scuffed it.. it was embarrassing really... aluko is not a player a team in the prem wants and he never will be
i guarantee that and i saw him at rangers for ahwile.. hes a lower league wonder

Meyler can do the job he's meant to do.

Aluko should be scoring goals, not falling over as soon as he gets near the penalty area and hacking the ball anywhere apart from the net.

Aluko had the quality just wasn't happening for him here, the strangling of free flowing play by Bruce probably didn't help.

I thought it would be inevitable that he'd move and flourish again, a fresh start more often than not is enough to rejuvenate. I don't know if he has or not, championship is a bit too high profile and mainstream for me to watch.

There's some real talent in the Azerbaijan u19's though, I've been watching that a lot recently.

Aluko was never brought in to be our main goal scorer, he wasn't that type of player.

Meyler can't do the job he's meant to do, unless his job is to piss me off in which case he's mint at it. For a midfielder he's a woeful passer of the ball and clumsy in possession, practically zero vision and awareness. In the PL anyway. In the Championship he was more effective, but at this level he's just a dead weight who gets chucked on to "break up play". Problem is, once he's broken up said play, he then apologises and hands it straight back to the opposition.

He should have had a hatrick by half time, but managed to score one scrappy goal.

That pretty much sums him up for me, he's great in the build up but just isn't clinical enough in front of goal, certainly not in the PL.
