Which I think is just about what we wanted. Much as I love seeing Bobby playing for England, I don't think he needs the extra match three days before our first league game. Various people have commented on him looking tired, or not quite his old self, so having him rested and focused for Villa seems to be better from a Fulham point of view. That said, if he finds his form in the first few games of the season, I'll be disappointed not to see him back in the England squad for the qualifying games in September, even if it adds to his workload. As for Stockdale, I hope this will encourage him that playing in the Championship for a season won't cost him in England terms. I notice that he kept a clean sheet yesterday on his Ipswich debut.
Agreed, Captain. Although I won't be too cut up if Bobby isn't in the England squad later in the season - like you say, he has to play enough games as it is!
With you on Bobby, Captain. And I don't see Capello risking him with the broken hand - it obviously affected him the other night, he wasn't even able to stand in front of the keeper and count off the seconds.
I think this is great for Stockdale and I'm sure that playing for Ipswich every week will both improve him as a player and improve his chances of making it to England's number 1 sooner rather than later. Agreed about Bobby - whilst I like the recognition of Fulham when one of our players is picked I'd rather he concentrated on Villa and Dnirpo at the moment.
Agreed penguin, our first games are going to be tough and i would rather have BZ concentrating on them rather then england, later on in the season when we are seeing how the tables turning out then yeah call him up, Good luck Stocky
Looks like he should at least be on the bench for the friendly international - even WH fans are describing Green as "Mr Flappy"
